Credit card fraud, Christmas curry and UK Furry con

Spose I should note down the various vaguely interesting things which happened to me recently.  The most interesting of which was that on Thursday, I learned that my credit card details had been illegally obtained, most likely via a dodgy web site.  My card was used for a transaction of 58p to see if the card was working and then they took £550 in one transaction.  Little did they know that my card only had a £1k limit (it was £500 but I had increased it in preparation for my holiday) and I already had £450 on the card so they couldn't take any more.  Thankfully, my bank automatically detected transactions outside my normal payment habits and cancelled the card before I even knew about it.  They're sending me a new card and I have to call them to tell them what transactions to dispute when they show on my account tomorrow.  It's not a big issue but it's hassle I could do without having to deal with.

Went to Kuti's, an indian restaurant, both on Thursday for the work's christmas do and going again on Saturday with a group of my brother's friends who I kinda know anyway.  The food was very good, however I must have eaten quite a few chilli's on Saturday cos it certainly did burn this morning >_<.  Oh, it wouldn't have been a work's christmas do without some drunken idiocy.  I somehow managed to get away with slapping one of the balding directors on the forehead and also managed to whack the boss in the nose.  In my defence, he was trying to stuff something down my shirt :P

Speaking of work, found out that we're not closing over Christmas now despite them leading us on that we might be. I'm off Boxing day and the following bank holiday but am working 28th, 29th and 30th December. Also have 2nd Jan off.

Oh, and just to stop random people asking me about the UK furry convention "BritFur", no, I'm not going.  Why?  Because it isn't happening, despite the appearance of the site.  I challenged the site owner and "con organiser", Tippus about it earlier this evening and he said the dates were meaningless.  Which pretty much means everything else on the site is inaccurate.

He's organising (in the loosest use of the word) it based on 2 things, Therians 4 was organised by 1 person and was a success, and also that Eurofurence 1 can't have had many people go to it.  However he seems to be forgetting that Therians was never supposed to be a con, it was basically just a mega meet.  There were no shows, events, dealers, or real planning to speak of.  True that sort of event could have grown into what people regard as a con but as Ruin was the only one organising it and she got fed up with it all and no-one wanted to take the responsibility to do another it was dead in the water.  Also, he has done no research into how Eurofurence 1 came to be, he's just basing all of that on assumptions.

So yeah, this is another non-starter UK furry con attempt.  Maybe if a team of people organised it rather than one, it may have some chnace.  Also, it being run by someone with credibility helps.

I don't think I'd go to a UK furry con. Too many of the UK furs are bitchy assholes, or utter creeps.

2 main problems, the UK furs are either too immature to be able to plan such an event or if they are mature enough, they are too bitter about the fandom to bother with such an event.

We'll stick with our plans to go to Eurofurence in the summer. ;)

Kutis is bloody fantastic. Sorry to hear about your card being skimmed bud, that sucks.

well, that was the first I had heard of 'Britfur' so that just goes to show how well it was organised *chuckles*

To be honest, I dont think I would trust hardly a single UK fur to organise a piss up in a brewery, let alone a major event such as a con. We can keep dreaming tho ;) *smirks*

have a good xmas sly and a happy new year!
