New DVD filmage

slycatGot a few recently. Firstly, I got Adaptation over the weekend. It's a film that blends the real world and fiction seamlessly. A fantastic film which I saw in the cinema on it's release. It's so multi-layerd and intricate and intelligent, I could write essays on it. It's one of those films you get more from the more times you watch it. Great stuff :)
Also received The Transporter and Ichi the Killer today. I decided to watch The Transporter first as it seems like a no-brainer fun action movie. It starts off promising despite the music being crap for a car chase but the plot quickly turns rather ridiculous. Certainly doesn't live up to the claim that "It is the film xXx wanted to be". Very unsatisfying and disappointing film, will be selling this one on eBay shortly.
Not watched Ichi the Killer yet, will probably save it for tomorrow. I bought it because it is a live action Japanese film based on a manga of the same name. Said to be "the most controversial film of all time"... although that same tag was used for A Clockwork Orange and I didn't find it that shocking. Apparantly the film is so disturbing, some people have thrown up in the cinema showings. The director liked this fact however because the smell is one thing you can't control with a movie and the smell of puke adds to the experience?!
I've watched the trailers so far and it certainly looks interesting. The only shame is that I learnt that the UK R2 is cut. It's 3mins short of the full length. However, you can buy the full uncut R2 version in Holland via this site. I'm thinking about selling this one and getting the uncut one. Ah well, I'll make that decision if I like the film or not ;)
