Thought it was about time to get down in writing what I got up to over the weekend.
Friday
After another crappy day at work (more busy than usual), I went off to
nonezumi(Glis) and
ruination(Ruin)'s place. The trains from Clapham Junction were a total nightmare Friday evening. I had to dash from platform 14 to platform 19 to get the next train to Croydon... Blah.
Got to EG around 7ish to be told that Ru, Glis and
bhavfox were still in Crawley getting Domino's. As I was thirsty, I decided to wonder off to a pub. I walked down what appeared to be the main road but not a pub in sight (little did I know that I had walked past a huge pub which would be pointed out to me later). I just kept on walking past the shops until I eventually came to an area I reckognised. From there, I headed for the Dorset Arms which I had been to before and proceeded to have a pint of Kronenbourg. Shortly after, Ruin popped in to say that Glis was waiting round the corner in the car.
At the house, we proceeded to eat pizza while watching Daria (which I've never sat down and watched before... quite enjoyed it actually). Played a few games of Bomberman, Beach Spikers, Puyo Puyo and Cool Cool Toon before going to sleep at around 2am.
Saturday
Woke up about 7.30am as I was slowly being toasted due to me not closing the curtains the night before. Decided that I should have a wash and so ran a bath... waking up the rest of the household in the process :P We dashed off to catch the 10am train and made it... just. We didn't have time to get tickets from the machine and had to buy them from the conductor (who doesn't even use a machine, he has to write the tickets out on paper... I mean how old fashioned is that? :P). Wasn't too expensive but we had to get tube tickets at Victoria as well.
At Victoria, we got the tube to Kings Cross and met the small number of people there. A few more turned up but not many. We all then did the usual of buggering off to Forbidden Planet where I looked at the t-shirts but didn't see anything I was after. Not really interested in buying comics so just floated about until people came out the shop. Ruin, Bhav and Glis went on to an art shop so I went to get a drink before stopping by Virgin to buy an Orbital CD that I've been after for a while now (In Sides). Then I got the tube up to Kentish town and to the pub.
At the back of the pub was
makali,
akira114 and some others so I bought a pint and joined them. After a while, Makali and
growf(Bruce) were gonna go play pool, so I tagged along. Needless to say, I played really badly but it didn't really matter as we were all having a laugh. Glis was due to turn up but never did as Ruin wasn't feeling well so they went home. By the time it got too silly, we decided to call it a day and go back to the pub. When there, we were suprised to find that everyone had gone. Where I don't know but we just sat down and had a pint.
After a while,
clawz_skunk and
mirawais turned up, to find that the people they were after had disappeared to one of the parks. I decided to tag along as I didn't have any further plans and wanted to see what the other furs were up to. We were off to Regent Park, one that I've not been to before. Got to it via the Great Portland Street tube. when we got there, we saw
orona_red who was on his way to collect other furs but said there were more furs in the park. However, he neglected to tell us specifically where. After a good bit of wondering, Clawz gave up and called one of the people that should have been in the park. Turns out, we had gone right past them!
In the park, was
anthropuppy,
hrrunka, Tippus,
wimborne(Huskyteer) and boyfriend,
klepsydra and some other people I didn't reckognise. Just lay on the grass for a while, relaxing while chatting to the others there and eating ice cream. It must have been about 30C (86F) there, absolutely sweltering! It was Anthropuppy's birthday and so he wanted to have a eal at the Mongolian BBQ to celebrate. I had my reserves about the place as I thought I wouldn't like the food. I got talked into it and so came along. When we finally found the place, tucked away in a corner of Covent Garden (an area I'm really not familliar with), we learned that as we had not booked a table, we had no chance.
And so began our quest to find another restaurant that could hold the 15 or so of us. We decided on Italian as that was the only type of restaurant no-one had any complaints about and so we made our way to Bella Italian. The one in Covent Garden wasn't big enough for us but we got pointed in the direction of Leicester Square instead. It was not getting late and I had had my hopes on getting the 8.30pm home, however again I got talked into going into the restaurant, even if it was just for a drink.
At Leicester Square we actually got them to make us a table to accomodate the group only to find that 2 or 3 didn't like the look of the menu and buggered off. I ordered the Lasagne which sounded rather appetising. However, it was rather small for £7.50, I was quite disappointed. With all my money spent, I decided not to hang around for dessert, even if it is my favourite part of the meal. I got to Waterloo around 9pm to find that I had missed my train by about 5 mins and had to wait a further half an hour for my next train.
Got home around 11ish and had a shower before collapsing into bed after an exhausting hot day.
Sunday
My day of rest. I did bugger all for most of the day, watched films and we had a BBQ for lunch.
Yep, so that's it, my weekend. Sorry to bore you with far too many details, I have a habit of doing that. If you were able to read it all, congratulations! Photos of the meal will be up when I can find my card reader...
As far as the meet goes, it was OK if organised. I hear that people ended up going to three different parks this time so I didn't see a large number of furs. That said, there wasn't a huge number of furs I was out to see this time round, I was gonna give it a miss but Glis had invited me over the Friday night so I came along.
