Well I've been rather quiet on the LJ front recently. Been nothing major to report so I'll just sum up all the little bits of interesting stuff I've been up to...

Sunday I went shopping for a jacket. I came away with 3 games... I'm so crap at buying clothes, I get all nervous and feel like I have to escape. It's like I am paranoid of my choice of purchase as to what that item says about my psychological makeup to others, ie. why I chose that particular item over another. These are things I really shouldn't think about. I mean the guy at the till is hardly going to have the intellectual capacity to make such psychological assesments, all they want is my money. Bah!

Anyway, I got 3 games in the sale at Game. I got the two Broken Sword games for a fiver (I only wanted BS2 as I had completed the first on Gameboy but it was a case of buy one, get the other free and who am I to turn away a free game?) and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 for the GameCube, which I'm certain was mispriced at £25 AND a 50% off sticker. In total, I got all three games for a shade over £17, not bad going :)

The rest of the week, I've just been working. Or at least trying to do as little work as possible without anyone noticing that I'm not actually working. I do this most days. Typically I sit on IRC while answering the helpdesk phones but barely paying attention to the customers and occaisonally do the odd email after I've been nagged that it's the third time they have written in... Yes, I'm the helpdesk person you'd all hate to have to deal with on the end of the phone. It's not that I'm stupid, it's because I REALLY DON'T CARE! This is the attitude you develop after doing 6years of the same thing day in, day out. Fortunately, I work for a financial software company so it's unlikely I'd talk to anyone from my age group, typically, they are all 60+ and are useless with computers...

Other than the above, I have found time to do some work on the company's intranet. It seems I'm getting quite competant with ASP/VB as I've redesigned the look and feel of the intranet, without breaking it and even included silly options like ones to allow the user to change their background for the intranet and stuff. It's been quite a good learning experience and it's very rewarding to see people in the office using something I've helped create. :)

I'm still on the job hunt of course, got closer than I've been in a long time with an agent calling me up asking me questions that, in retrospect, I replied far too honestly to. Nevertheless, it seems nothing came of it again and I am still awaiting my first interview. It seems with helpdesk jobs, I have no experience in stuff that's transferrable such as windows or office support. All I take with me is my ability to work out problems. I tried in futile to convince the agent person that I'm quick to adapt but it seems that wasn't enough. Oh well, better luck next time.

Been playing the aforementioned games quite a bit, THPS4 is suprisingly entertaining and I'm progressing well in Broken Sword 2, both good purchases I think. Also been playing Advance Wars 2 on my GBA on the commute to/from work. It's prooving to be a great time killer since I finished the Tony Hawkes book about his journey around Ireland with a fridge (a great book I should add :).

I'll be seeing the late showing of T3 with my brother tomorrow at the THX cinema in Portsmouth and then I'll have to get up early for the LondonFur meet. Sadly, I'll be unable to visit [livejournal.com profile] hawx and co due to the cinema trip and also, I'm not that keen on carrying sleeping bags, towels and pillows around London for a day so I won't be visiting Saturday night either. Is a shame, I really want to see Hawx's new place. However, I think it'll be better once he's moved in and there's actually furniture and stuff there.
