Silverwind's Mini-Meet
Nov. 18th, 2001 11:55 pmRighto, so yesterday I was off to Silverwind's place for a meet up of the miniture variety. I was uncertain as to whether I wanted to go or not due to the problems with the trains and stuff but in the end I decided that I would go. Otherwise I would be sat on my arse and be bored all weekend, wishing I went.
Finally set off to the train station around 12.30ish and got to the train station around 1. Due to the engineering work in the area, I couldn't just go direct without getting a bus server as a part of the journey so I decided to go for the train that went to Guildford, then to Wokingham and then to Winnersh Triangle. I'm always weary with that number of connections but it was the best I was going to do.
Set off on time on the train to Guildford and passed the time reading the jobs paper (Some possibles, will need to write off tomorrow) and a computer game mag while listening to my radio. Was a fairly non-evenful journey as you'd expect really. Whilst looking out of the window, I noticed that we passed through Godalming (The train doesnt normally take this route). Godalming has go to the the most beautiful yet boring and undeveloped place on the planet. I knew that TimmyPup lived there and so I thought it would be cool to message Tim to say I saw where he lived. This is when I realised I had *LEFT MY PHONE AT HOME!!!* "Noooooooooooooooooo!" I thought but I remained calm. I had directions to Silverwind's place along with a map and his numbers so I was OK.
Got to Guildford on time and had to rush to my connecting train's platform but I wasn't sure which it was as the time didn't appear on the list. Turns out that the time of the train was different to the one I got from railtrack. Guildford was a station in severe need of renovation... It was quite disorganised and I wasn't too sure where I was going but I got there in the end. Train to Wokingham was a bit late but that didn't matter.
Up until this point, I had got away without paying for a ticket as I simply used my London pass on the Guildford train as that train was going to London. However, there was a ticket collector on the Wokingham train and so had to pay a whole £3.90 (Inc. Railcard discount :) single to Winnersh Triangle. Not so bad considering.
Got to Wokingham. Was a strange feeling. Last time I was at Wokingham, it was for the Therians meet. I loved the Therians meet and just being at Wokingham brought back many memories.
Part two comes later. I'm too tired at the moment to finish this but will complete it tomorrow. I think it may be just as large as the LondonFur meet entry - fear!
