So what have I been up to?
Nov. 4th, 2003 08:20 pmBeen playing a lot of games, that's what! Firstly, been playing the excellent Max Payne 2 on the PC. Admittedly a very linear and scripted game but a very fun and imaginative game at that. The narrative and plot draw the story on and while it's supposed to be a short game, they have crammed a LOT into what is there. I've not completed it yet but feel I'm close to getting there. I also got Worms 3D for the PC but havn't played it much as I only installed it yesterday. Seems a bit fiddly but very cute :)
Talking about cute, my brother got Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg for the GameCube at the weekend. It's a 3D platformer based around a kid who wears a magical chicken suit and rolls eggs around to defeat foes. It's fun until you get stuck and find yourself dieing and restarting the same bit many times. At which stage, it gets tedious. Kinda suprising because this is a Sonic Team game, the same people responsible for Sonic Adventure, Nights Into Dreams, Chu Chu Rocket, Samba De Amigo and other classic Sega games. While it's not quite up to the level of entertainment provided by their other games, it's still very cute and a very polished look as you'd expect. Need to play it more to really decide if I like it or not.
Also on the GameCube, I received F-Zero GX today. My brother bought it for my birthday but it's only now been delievered as the postal strikes are off. It's another update of the "SNES classic" futuristic racer which I was never really any good at. However, I've taken to this version much more, it looks and plays so well and it's faaaaaaaast! I've compelted one of the cups and started building my own ship. Need to play it more but just not got enough time tonight.
This evening was also taken up by watching the XviD edition of Cypher. A film I very much wanted to see in the cinema but it was on a limited release in London so I never got to see it. Looks like it's out on DVD but only n Europe and not in the UK. It's not released or even announced in any native English speaking nation so I had to download it. I'm glad I did, it's a fantastic psycological sci-fi thriller from the director of Cube. It's been likened to Total Recall in plot but it goes so much further. I'd definitley recommend it if you can get it :)

Date: 2003-11-04 04:21 pm (UTC)So, how hard do you find the game?
(I of course refer to the many reviews of GX which claim that (a) it's hard and (b) Japanese gamers have complained of its difficulty)
I haven't had tooooo much trouble, myself. Master difficulty in the Grand Prix proves to be challengning. In Master I'm lucky to get a first in a race, and sometimes don't get 1st in the overall Grand Prix (not to boast, too much, heh).
That said, Story mode is very hard on 'Normal'.. and Hard is just insane. Haven't made any progress in Hard at all. So... :)
Yay for the Little Wyvern, and my Garnet Barrel - Z!
