Finally got me a new phone, this time round, it's a Nokia 6600. I've been umming and aahing about what phone to upgrade to since my 12 months was up in September. However I have had my heart set on this one since the beginning. My brother has the T610 and he says he isn't totally happy with it. also it seems everyone has one of those these days so I wanted something a bit different. I ordered it yesterday at the Carphone Warehouse site and was please to find it waiting for me today.First impressions were that of awe in how much of an improvement over my old phone it was, with a large colour screen, full motion video intro and a million and one options. The phone is based on an operating system (Symbian 7.0) like Windows so it now has a filing system where you can install new things and sort your images, sounds, video, etc. The phone has 6mb internal memory but I was suprised to see it came with a free 32mb MMC card too. The card was filled with marketing rubbish so I soon cleared that off.
I was going to go through the laborious task of writing down all my numbers from the old phone and typing them back into the new phone as the nubmers were stored in the phone memory rather than the sim. Fortunately, rather than do all that, I was able to delete all the entries from the SIM and copy the phone book back to the sim. Meaning I have all my numbers in my new phone without any work :)
One of the appeals of the phone was that you can download games and things from the net and then upload them via Bluetooth to the phone to use. however, I have spent the past couple of hours trying to get my brother's Bluetooth dongle to install but it flatly refuses to believe that the supplied driver is the correct one for the dongle. So unfortunately I'm at a loss there so far. I was looking forward to playing the cracked N-Gage games on it too which I had downloaded in preparation... I shall have to try again tomorrow.
