Oooh! Good news!
Dec. 12th, 2003 10:34 pmI took the 12th through to the 24th off as holiday this month but I've now found out that our office will be closing on the 24th and reopening on the 5th as free paid holiday. This now means that I will have 24 consecutive days off work before I go back to work, at a cost of only 8 days off! I've not had this much time off work since I had three weeks off in 2000 but that turned into four weeks due to me getting chicken pox. Now all I need to do is to make the best use of the time and not give in to temptation to play games and watch movies every day.
I need to get lots of my course done as I've skived off doing any of it for far too long. I couldn't say why I've avoided the coursework other than laziness. I've felt that I have no time after work as I wake up at 5.45am and get home from work at 7.30pm. I've also at the same time, wanted the weekend for pleasure, to wind down after a stressful week at work. That won't be an excuse during this time off so I plan to get as much done as possible.
In a related note, I applied for a computer job in my hometown via Jobsite the other day. The agency called me yesterday but I couldn't take the call as I was working. I called them back today and they said I was too late to apply for the job but I wasn't that upset as I wasn't really qualified for the job (but it was walking distance so it was worth a try!). however, the same agency said that some helpdesk jobs have just opened up in Eastleigh which is still very close to where I live so they're putting me forward for that. I doubt I'll hear anything back until the new year however. Still, it's a welcome suprise, making me realise there's hope yet.
