Didn't do a heck of a lot over the weekend, I mostly watched films (Lion King 3, Matchstick Men and some others) and played around with emulators on my PC. Specifically, Nintendo 64 and Amiga emulators. I finally got to play the fantastic conker's Bad Fur Day thanks to Hybryd sending me the rom as well as many other classics. It's nice to be able to play those games in a better resolution that the original console could manage and keep all of the playability.

What was even better was re-associating myself with the workings of Amigas and Workbench. I owned an Amiga A500+ back from whenever they came out and used it mostly got playing pirated games as did most other people. However, thanks to emulation and extra patches (Amiga In A Box), I can now run Workbench (The Amiga version of Windows) in 1280x1024x16bit! (see screenshot by clicking the thumb on the right) Now this will mean nothing to most people, but those who remember Amiga will agree that this is quite an impressive achievement, considering that normally Workbench will run in only 320x480 (doubled vertically) at 16 colours. Also, as it's an Amiga, I of course had to take a trip down nostalgia lane ang watch some of the old Eric Schwartz animations which I used to buy on Public Domain disks (how freeware was distributed before everyone had the net) long before I knew anything of furry :). It's odd that at the young age of 23, I'm already thinking fondly of better days.

On, in further random news, my first prize (1 of 6) which I've won from www.getit1st.co.uk arrived today. It was a Mars Delight which isn't due out until May this year. It's a rippled wafer centre surrounded by caramel and chocolate cream and that is covered with chocolate. It's nice but considering it's the size of a single Twix finger, I doubt it'll be worth buying one. I wonder what the other 5 bars which-are-not-yet-available-in-the-shops-yet will be. Maybe I'll find out tomorrow ^^.

I don't suppose you have Workbench .adf or .hdf files to hand at all? I've been wanting to run Workbench in emulation for a while, but my own copy is at home (and I don't have any means of extracting it from the Amiga floppies, come to that).

You can't install AITB without a valid copy of Workbench, so yeah, I do. I downloaded it off Kazaa, just searched for Amiga+workbench. If you still can't get it, give me a shout this evening and I'll send it over to you.

I miss the Amiga. And is it just me or is your current LJ colourscheme vaguely Amiga Workbench 2.1-esqe? :)

Err, it may be but any similarities are purely coincidental. I just thought it was plesant on the eye ;)

Hee! Yup, that's one of Eric Schwartz' (as is the pic in the other window). Got them due to their Amiga links. The background image is a 800x600 source stretched to 1280x1024 which is why it looks a bit pixelly.

You can download that pic and his other stuff from his VCL site. I forget the link and am at work so don't want to be viewing furry art here but I'm sure you can find him from the artists page.
