Aaaarrrggghhh! *pulls hair out*
Nov. 28th, 2002 10:24 pmI give up! I thought I'd impress work by helping out with the intranet pages by making them look nice and stuff (I had been complaining that they look naff and suggested that I could have a go, and they gave me permission to). The pages as they are use VB ASP and do not use style sheets.
I thought I would put the knowedge I had of style sheets to use and make the page look nice using them but it is simply impossible to see if you are making the correct changes or not without being able to preview it! I have no idea what I am doing if I am unable to preview what my changes did as that's how I learn such languages, trial and error! I know nothing of ASP and very little of the full potential of style sheets and so have been pulling my hair out trying to do this. Anyone know how I can test ASP files without having an ASP server (Testing locally)?
Argh! I really need some decent training in this department as it is what I want to do in the future. Looking at courses, I found this one which looks particularily good, even if I only need to do the bottom 6 courses... Only problem is that it'll cost in excess of £1000 meaning if I did it, I would NOT be able to afford Anthrocon or any holiday next year :-/. I guess the right thing to do would be to go for the course as it's an investment in my future... Maybe I can get my company to pay for me and then quit! :D
