It seems I've got a new film to watch every day recently and today is no exception. Today, I watched the Equilibrium DVD. It's a sci fi film about a future where people have to use emotion supressants and any showing of feeling or posession of books, art or music is illegal. One of the guys who upholds the law misses his dose of emotion supressants and learns what it's like to have feelings.

It's style of film done many times before, where an enforcer turns on the system he was supposed to uphold. A theme possibly done first (in a sci-fi theme at least) with Logan's Run so when making this film, they had to make it original, to stand out and be something new when it really isn't. Unfortunately, they didn't do a fantastic job. The gun battles are nicely done, specifically the final battle but ultimately, I had seen it all before and seen it done better.

*expects a battering from [livejournal.com profile] orona_red now cos he loved the film :P*

Still got more DVD goodness to watch, have About Schmidt that my Dad has as well as my brother's Futurama series 3. Meanwhile, I'm downloading Orange County DVD rip which looks like it could be a fun movie :) I've not got anything planned for tomorrow other than doing my course work so it's probably a good thing.

Yes I know I'm not posting much interesting about me and my life recently but this is because nothing's really happening at the moment. Rest assured, I'm still alive, just not doing much interesting.

I have got a new game for my GBA today which is Sonic team's latest creation - Sonic Pinball Party! It's apparantly the american version but looking at game sites, it's not even been announced for release there and it isn't out in Japan for a further fortnight. I got hold of the ROM via the newsgroups and I've uploaded it to my gameboy. It's so addictive, I've just spent the past hour playing it.

OK, what could be so good about a pinball game? Well it's made by Sonic Team the people behind some of SEGA's best ever games such as Sonic (duh), Super Monkey Ball, Nights, Chu Chu Rocket and Samba De Amigo so you'd expect a good quality game. It doesn't disappoint!

Primarily, you can just play it as a straight forward pinball game where you select a table and play until you lose all your balls but there are also a number of extra modes. Firstly is Story Mode where you "battle" against other characters via the pinball tables but you'll have different tasks to complete like get X points or complete X feature. Next is "party" mode which looks like it's for more than one GBA. Can't test that however. Then there's the Casinopolis which festures a selection of casino games which are gontrolled by some pinball flippers... rather hard to play and a bit pointless really. Finally, there's a mini version of Sonic Adventure's Chao Garden! :)

The tables themselves are based on Sonic, Nights, Samba De Amigo and although I'm yet to unlock it, I'm assuming the fourth is based on Chu Chu Rocket. Every table has a distinctly unique feel. In the Sonic one you get to collect rings and defeat Dr Eggman as a part of the challenge. The Nights level sounds fantastic with all the music and sound effects of the original Saturn game! Features some interesting bonus modes involving acrobatics and stuff. Finally, the Samba De Amigo table which I unlocked by playing the story mode. It's a simple table layout compared with the others but effective. You can choose a song by posing the stick man at the top of the level and then play a mini version of Samba De Amigo using two buttons (rather than 6). It's really fun and brings back memories :)

So yeah, if you own a GBA, keep an eye out for this one whenever it comes out, it is the best game I've played on the GBA to date!
