I've had an MP3-CD player for quite some time now but as I prefer quality over quantity, I record my MP3s in 192kbps. Due to this you can't fit a huge amount on a CD and also with my growing MP3 collection (currently standing at 3455 tracks / 18.54GB) it can proove to be too much like hard work burning CDs of compilations I'd want to listen to. Ideally, what I'd like is a device which I can store all my MP3s on and play them when I'm out and about. The obvious choice of course is the popular iPod. However, Creative have made an equivilent which is larger in capacity and cheaper too, the Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra.

Now I'm always a fan of the latest technology and it seems that a new type of hard drive jukebox is starting to come out, the video jukebox. They are still pricey at the mo but I'm sure as more competition comes out they'll get cheaper. At the mo, there's the Archos AV340 or the Thompson Lyra PDP2860 but they're both kinda average at what they do according to T3 magazine.

So I guess the question I'm asking is what do I go for? Well I certainly don't have the sort of cash to fund such a device for a good few months and maybe by then something better will have been released. I may just want to skip the video idea as it may prove to be more novelty than practical... I guess I should just make my decision when I can actually afford the thing :)
