So, I went from a pretty clean slate of a weekend, to a pretty packed one.  Mostly due to last minute plans really.  Saturday, I was bored sitting at home doing nothing so I just decided to go into Southampton for something to do.  On my way in, I contacted [livejournal.com profile] tktiger if he was interested in joining me.  Turns out he needed an excuse to go in so would happily join me.  TK also brought [livejournal.com profile] beaitchtwo along as he wanted to get a book.  Once he had got his book, we ventured off to Shakeaway for bizarre milkshakes (I went for the Dime bar and vanilla fudge variety myself - note to self: Fudge doesn't blend well) and then on to Sega Park to waste money by playing games.  Had a few goes on the DDR machine with TK to burn off the milkshake and a few goes on Outrun 2 (coming second both times - need more practise!).  TK got offered a job to work at Sega Park, rather out of the blue.  The staff know him as he goes there enough and they were recruiting as they recently let some people go.  TK being recently made redundant was interested in work and if it meant free goes on the DDR machine as a perk, I'm sure that's all the better :P.

Today, I got invited down to London by [livejournal.com profile] sandroo as he was going to be there with some other furs showing [livejournal.com profile] aeto around the capital.  Due to lack of any real notice (well I knew it was going on but wasn't really planning on attending until Sandroo texted me), I got into London around 1.40pm.  This was my first visit to London since the July bombings and it seems there's a disctinctly paranoid air when you travel into London now.  Many extra new announcements asking passengers to keep an eye out and suspect your fellow passenger, etc.  You kinda get sucked in by it all, almost even wanting something to happen just so you could be a part of it (maybe that's just me).

Anyway, after a quick excursion to CyberCandy to restock on Root Beer, Weathergreen mints and random sweets which look cool, I met up with the group in a Weatherspoons pub near to the Tower Hill tube station (overlooking Tower Bridge).  Other than Sandroo and Aeto, there was [livejournal.com profile] rakhan, [livejournal.com profile] yagfox, [livejournal.com profile] mr_wolf and [livejournal.com profile] dingotush.  Hadn't seen Yagfox since Christmas, and hadn't seen Lone Wolf or David Cooke since even longer (maybe Therians 2000?).  The group were just finishing desserts and so I got myself a half while I waited.  The plan was to go visit The Tower of London as Aeto was interested in seeing the crown jewels, etc.  Sandroo, David and I were kinda reluctant to pay the £14.85 charge and so we just went back to the pub to spend the same money on beer and cider ;).

Next, Aeto wanted to go to Trafalgar Square to see the Lions there and so we made our way along the Thames to Embankment.  Lone, Yag, Aeto and Rakhan were getting kinda knackered from all the walking (they had just been on a 2-3hr walking tour of The Tower), they decided to get the tube from Blackfriars to Embankment.  Sandroo, David and I foolishly said we'd beat them there on foot... and of course arrived maybe 5-10mins after they did.  At least I got much needed exercise and avoided tube travel for a bit.  After Aeto was satisfied with his Lion photos, were were off to have a curry.  Sandroo suggested a place he saw near Warren Street and so we made our way there. The curry was pretty nice and more importantly, relatively cheap.  Worked out at approx £15 split evenly.  After the curry, I and Sandroo had to make our way home and so left the rest to their devices.

All in all, a rather enjoyable weekend, certainly much better than sitting in watching films and playing games all day, even if it was a bit more expensive.  I should probably do something more constructive with my spare time really, my site apparantly hasn't been updated since 23rd November 2003!
