More graphics card fun
Dec. 2nd, 2005 11:46 pmSo following yesterday's fun trying to buy a new card, WiseMouse called me today to say that the card I ordered wouldn't be in stock when they said it would be previously (9th Dec). They said I probably wouldn't get it this side of Christmas. So I decided to cancel the order and request refund (as they take payment before the item is sent out). However, the girl wanted to charge me £3.50 for the privilage of getting the refund on the basis that I knew it was an esitmated date, not a definite date. I had to put up a good argument and stand my ground explaining when I was given the date, it didnt't mention it was an estimate and finally she gave in and said she would refund me in full.
So that left me without a graphics card on order again and facing the prospect of putting up with a 4mb PCI card until after my holiday. I did a bit of looking over the net knowing full well the card I wanted wasn't in stock anywhere apart from Scan who charged £20 more than most places for the card. However in my digging, I found the "Today Only" page on Scan which seems to list the majority of products you'd want to buy anyway but at reduced prices. In the list was the card I was after, £10 less than their normal list price. It was still in stock and so I placed the order. It's still £20 more than it was with WiseMouse but at least I know it will be sent out to me on Monday.
So hopefully, I shall stop moaning about all this come Tuesday when I should get the card! Can't wait to play my PC games again :)
