So, went to the LondonFur meet today, my first since August. Needless to say, it's changed a lot since I last went. It's in a new venue not too far from the old venue in St Paul's, but more tucked away. I probably wouldn't have found it had I not gone with Andy as I didn't have the foresight to check maps beforehand. The venue itself is more of a small club with a bar than a pub, but there were plenty seats available. It was bloody hot however as it was downstairs. There was air-con but it was about as effective as a mouse coughing. Also the range of drinks on offer from the bar were pretty awful so I just ended up drinking Smirnoff Ice at £3.50 a pop.

Anyway, there were a lot of people there. Vast majority I didn't know of course but there were a number of old faces I recognised. Was good to catch up with everyone, it seemed it was a meet where more people than normal decided to attend, probably partially due to the fact there was an after meet party organised by the RBW crew. Speaking of whom, the whole meet thing felt much more organised than I'm used to, bordering on mini-con (considering there was in excess of 100 people present, you probably could have called it that). There were people DJing providing the music and also the occasional announcement was made. At the end of the time at the meet, FoxB made an announcement that RBW registrations were now open and explained what was on offer etc. The whole thing struck me as quite professionally announced which I was impressed by, could easily compare with how the US cons I've been to are handled. In fact it has pretty much convinced me to want to go to RBW this year as it looks like it's shaping up to be a fairly decent con, despite being in the UK. I'm still not a fan of the name... should probably contain the word "London" somewhere.

After people were shifted out of the bar/pub/club/venue thing, Bhav, Badgerguy, myself and 7 others went off to Pizza Express for food. The restaurant markets itself as a posh venue but they still let us in :P Pizza was really tasty, but then at almost £10 it should have been! After pizza, the people we were with were going back to the venue for the after meet party which cost £5 to attend so Andy and I made our way home.

In all, was a quite enjoyable meet, just would have been better if the AC had been cranked up a bit and there not be a party afterwards. The whole organised thing has changed the dynamic of the meets, thought I'm undecided at the moment if it's for the better or not. However it's not been enough to deter me from going again, so I expect I'll be going to another in the future, not going to be the next one tho.
