Weekend Update
Aug. 31st, 2009 10:59 pmSo this weekend has been host to Eurofurence 15 in Germany, and I didn't attend this year. I had long decided to skip out on the convention due to trying to save money and also due to the limited spaces available, however it's still tough the time a convention rolls around. FC's going to be even harder for me, I love that con but again shan't be attending due to lack of money. However, I do plan to attend at least both ConFuzzled and Eurofurence next year.
So, instead of attending Eurofurence, I attended the (seemingly annual) HantsFurs Bournemouth meet on Saturday. After a slow start in the arcade while people were playing DDR, the meet was quite pleasant. Plenty of decent people in attendance to chat with, and food in the form of Wagamama is always welcome (even if I only have the one dish, Chicken Katsu Curry). There was plenty time messing about on the beach throwing Nerf thingies around and burying people. Sadly I didn't bring my camera and I had installed a new rom on my phone which annoyingly didn't have a working camera app so I didn't grab any photos of the event. Was a lot of fun tho :)
That wasn't the end of the day however as I went to a Rock Band night at The Dorchester Arms pub with
jowgenetsu and his friend. It was kinda like a karaoke evening but with instruments as well. Basically the stage area had space for the instruments as well as a TV for the "performers" to use and another smaller screen for the crowd to watch. We went up on stage twice and did a few songs... it was quite a surreal experience due to being in a pub on stage "performing" a song (I was on guitar). Certainly was a lot of fun, was just a shame the DJ ended up DJing rather than having more people on to play after people started dancing around. We took that as our cue to leave.
Yesterday was filled with helping a friend from work get his website online (sort him out with hosting and stuff) and was paid in the form of homemade lasagne as thanks, which was rather tasty.
arakinuk came over in the evening and we played some Rock Band (after I exported his songs from Rock Band 1) and watched X-men Origins: Wolverine, which I have to say I rather enjoyed. It had plenty of great action scenes and there was also a story there to follow. Not the best comic book movie I had seen, but I did prefer it to the original X-men trilogy.
Today, I've done absolutely nothing. Nothing at all. Watched some TV, updated Furmeets UK, but that's about it. Feels like a waste of a day off but then it is nice to have a quiet day once in a while. Back to work tomorrow but I'm only in for 3 days as I've a 4 day weekend next weekend. I've nothing planned for the Friday or Monday but I am planning to attend the LondonFur meet on Saturday. It will be my own personal 10th year anniversary meet as my first ever meet was on the 4th September 1999. There should be a few furs from outside the UK attending too as they've been over for Eurofurence. Hopefully I can get some place to stay in London Saturday night to make a 2 day thing of it.
