Both computers now broken :(

I'm having to type this on my mobile phone because this morning, I found that my desktop PC no longer wants to boot. While I didn't get any of the red screen oddness that happened to my laptop, the system is now exhibiting the same problems as my laptop as in it no longer boots, it seems that it never gets to POST and nothing ever gets output to screen or any beeps are heard. This is too much of a coincidence. Why would both my machines apparantly commit suicide in the same week? It's like this flat was built on an ancient burial ground of anti-technology people or something. Anyway, this does mean my online presence will be minimal for the forseeable future apart from xbox live. Hopefully my brother can take a look this weekend and figure it out.

Emergancy dragon drop will be incoming soon with spare device. in the mean time I would suggest the following.

First re seat all components on your PC if that fails then remove all extra components (including ram and vidieo card) then start to reseat them one at a time and see if your PC posts (or beeps till you get the graphics card back). you should be able to track down the faulty component.

thanks for the advice but i tried all of that and no change. Can only assume it to be the motherboard

See if you can borrow a power supply and try it. I know there are three busses: 3.3volt, 5volt, +12volt and -12volt. If one of them dies, some things work and other things dont.
