Last night I saw the latest film by director David Fincher (of Seven and Fight Club fame), The Social Network. The basic synopsis for the film is that it's the story of how Facebook came to be and the lawsuits which followed. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much but I left the cinema feeling entertained, and inspired.

I was fascinated by the way that an ordinary guy (admittedly a very intelligent and geeky guy) could come up with an idea which could become so big. The film I'd compare most to the film would be Pirates of Silicon Valley, however The Social Network was done in less of a docu-drama style and was more as a regular drama. I found it very well acted and the technical content of the film was spot on too which is rare, however they did show Zuckerberg blogging via Livejournal in the film on an account called [livejournal.com profile] zuckonit but it looks like this may have just been product placement for Livejournal!

The film's technically relevant to anyone who's ever used Facebook, but I'd recommend the film to anyone who's interested in (very) modern history and the computing/internet industry :)
