The worst part about any trip is having to come home afterwards. As they say, "All good things must come to an end" although I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] bhavfox was trying to believe otherwise and stay longer.

OK, I'll start from where Part 1 left off:

Thursday:

We packed all our stuff for AC, packing as little as possible, with the exception of [livejournal.com profile] nomadfox who would not be returning with us, as we had to leave room in the back of the van for [livejournal.com profile] chapeljax as she would be the 6th passenger and it was a 5 seat car. Anyways, we picked Jax up, stopped by Dunkin' Donuts before departing on what should have been a 5-6hr trip. All was going smoothly up until New York when our instructions told us to go the wrong way rather than stay on the road but that wasn't a major detour.

The New Jersey Turnpike was the cause of most of our problems - there was some kind of accident (Which we lated found out to be a car that had caught alight and some people died) which was causing 12 mile tailbacks. This wasn't so much of a problem other than a delay initially but then we started to smell something very wrong (And it wasn't me farting either). It was the smell of the engine overheating. There was steam beginning to come out from the hood and the temperature gague was off the scale. We took to putting the air ventilation on max heat to ventilate the air from the engine. It initially helped but not enough as the engine continued to overheat. By this time we were getting worried that the engine was going to blow up, leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere. We took to stopping for a bit, letting a gap appear before us and driving fast to catch up causing more air flow to the engine. Again, it helped for a bit but we were smoking again before too long. When this happened again, we decided to take to the hard shoulder and just drive. This worked really well for about 15 mins before some arsehole pulled into the hard shoulder to STOP us!!! We were forced to merge with the traffic once more as were the other people who had taken to following us but the distance we made was enough to cool the engine down before we got to the service station.

After snacks and refilling, we continued on our trip but the traffic density got no better and we were having problems again. We decided to take the next turnoff and go an alternatice route. Looked easy enough from the map and so we ventured off. Should have been easy enough from the map. The road we were taking should have intersected the Philidelphia Turnpike so it was just a case of getting the right turnoff. Easy enough right? Um, not really :P I somehow managed to miss the turn off completely and take us too far south and so we had to take another alternative route. Just go across the bridge, easy enough. Or so I thought again. We were getting more and more lost so we stopped to check the map. Eventually got to the correct road and eventually got to the Adam's Mark Hotel dispite the directors frm the AC site being a bit out of date and listing the old exit numbers.

OK. So we were there. This was my first ever furry con and I was finally there! I had so many emotions flooding through me, excitement, anxiety, nervousness... As we walked up to the hotel, I saw Mousepaws - a guy who I went around Florida and saw the Florida furs with 2 years ago. He was looking much chubbier than I remember but was still him. Gave him a quick hug as he was on his way out and continued in to the hotel. Inside the hotel was something else. It was a traditional style hotel but there were furs everywhere. The occaisonal fursuiter went by but no-one I reckognised. Just waiting in line for the reception of the hotel, we saw Torque, Lone Wolf (UK), [livejournal.com profile] kashyfox and [livejournal.com profile] clawz_skunk. I had some paws that [livejournal.com profile] ruination made to give Clawz which was a nice coincidence as I didn't have to go find him and could just give them to him. We knew that they were going to be too small for him however, as expected, he wasn't happy with them. I decided to put mu badge on as there were many others walking around with badges on and I wanted them to reckognise me if I knew them from wherever. Bhav got harrassed by a woman called Babs Bunny because Bhav was wearing his blue bunny ail and she thought he was a Buster bunny :P

After checking in, we lugged all our stuff to the room (Whatever happened to bellboys like in the movies?) and relaxed. We then went down to get registered but we realised we were too late to register and so would have to wait for tomorrow. We went off for food I think, mingled with furs and met more folks I knew such as Byzantyn before going off to bed.
