Cool movie!
Nov. 3rd, 2001 11:07 pmJust been channel flicking and ended up watching what I first thought was 'The Last Starfighter'. It was a film starring Emilio Estevez as a young teen who was obsessed with playing a video game called the 'Bishop of Battle' where he had to get to the 13th level and stuff.
After a bit of research (Cos I wasnt sure if it was The Last Starfighter), I found that it was in fact a film of short stories called 'Nightmares'.
The short story itself was kinda cool which ended (Turn away now if you don't want to know the ending) with J.J. (Emilio's character) sneaking away during the night to play this game where he actually does get to the 13th level, upon where the game disintegrates and then the wireframe enemies come out into real life where he then has to shoot them. He cacks his pants (Natually) and makes a run for it. Once he thinks he's safe, he gets caught and a big wireframe head eats him. Next day at the games arcade, they see J.J. in the game as the character and stuff.
A great Twilight zone inspired bit of entertainment I thought. The rest of the shorts werent that good but the 'Bishop of Battle' is good enough to carry the film ;o)
