Yesterday we the first proper meet based in Reading and it went quite well. The meet consisted of budrickBudrick, phoeniciaSilverwind, kurtbatzKurtBatz, bhataCamrath, afyaAfya, ruinationRuin, nonezumiGlis and nonezumiZee.

The plan was to, in no particular order, see X-Men 2, eat at a restaurant and do some shopping. After getting to Reading train station and meeting the others there, we went off to the cinema to book our tickets as the showings were due to get packed out rather quickly. We bought our tickets for the 5pm showing and then went into the Oracle for shopping. After a bit of wondering of how we would tackle shopping in a large group, it was decided to just split off and do your own thing and return in half an hour.

I went off with Ruin and Glis to the WB store. The WB store didn't really have much that caught my interest other than the cells which were pretty cool yet very expensive :-/ Left the WB store without buying anything and went on round the Gadget Shop and some other places. I went into Game and did something I probably shouldn't have done yet... but I couldn't resist! I bought myself a brand new silver GameCube with Zelda: The Wind Waker :D Was £130 but I have a £30 rebate coupon which I got with my Gameboy Advance SP.

After shopping we wondered to a rather naff comic shop and then decided to go for food. We were split between going to Nandos or Pizza Hut. Due to large waiting times for large groups (we were 9 people) we decided to go in 2 groups. I was to be in the Nandos group but they had massive waiting times and so we went to Pizza Hut anyways. Pizza was OK, Afya and Camrath had already decided what myself and Glis would be eating. Their choices were good so I didn't make a fuss :P Came to roughly £10 each evenly split even though I didn't go for a dessert. I wasn't going to be anal enought to work out my portion of the bill as I only had a tenner in my pocket anyways.

Pizza eaten, we went off for the film. Even though it was 20 mins before the film was supposed to open, the theatre was packed. To get all 9 of us in a row, we had to sit on row D. I made sure I sat towards the middle so I didn't get a skewed view like the time I went to see Spiderman. As for the film itself, I was somewhat dissapointed. Despite a promising start, it was a rather boring story done in a boring fashion. I guess I got too absorbed with the media hype about the film but I just didn't deliver. The others seemed to enjoy it as they like the comic books and the story was taken from them apparantly. I'm sure Matrix: Reloaded will have no problem topping X-Men 2.

After the film, we went to a student pub for a pint before I had to leave. My train was delayed so I stuck around talking to the others before I left. Journey home was rather uneventful and passed really quickly thanks to "Made in Wario" (GBA SP game). :) got home around 11pm, knackered from walking up the steep hill home from the station with a heavy Gamecube on my back.

As far as the day goes, it was a success but could have been better. It was still better than a LondonFur meet (which isnt hard) considering we actually did something that was scheduled but I dunno... At least I got on with Kurt which made a change. I even bought him a drink :P

No. I just didn't like the film. It was very average.
