Last minute withdrawal
Oct. 24th, 2003 07:33 pmAfter much mulling over, looking at time tables and the like, I'm going back on what I've been saying recently and am choosing not to go to the LondonFur meet on the 25th. The reason is not due to the fact that the Northern Line is out of action north of Euston. It is more to do with the fact that there are major engineering works going on at Southampton (they are upgrading the lines so they can run the new trains they bought). What this means to me is that I would need to get to London really early before they shut the station, or I go via Salisbury, pay extra and take longer to get there.
Considering I'm low on fundage (despite being paid, I really should be conserving money where possible to pay off my debts) and considering there's not a huge number of people going, even though, those who are going, I'd like to meet up with, I've made the decision not to go. Sorry chaps, maybe next time round.
In other news, thank feck it's the weekend again! I've been taking much advantage of the net connection at work and BitTorrent and have installed Max Payne 2 today as a result. I never really played through the first one but playing the second one is very good. Shame the loading times take forever. also, it seems my PC has finally met it's match. No longer is it able to run the latest games relatively smoothly at 1024x768 in max detail (although games like UT2003 and GTA:VC have no speed issues even at 1280x1024). This means eventually, I'll need to upgrade my poor AMD 1ghz CPU to a brand spanking new chip. I'll most likely get the XP3000+ as that's the highest my motherboard will support and it's rather cheap. But then again, I have the aforementioned debt issue to deal with so I'll probably wait and see what I get for my birthday and get it closer to Christmas.
I also downloaded the film Cube 2 - Hypercube. The original, even though it was cheap, was well done and relatively well acted. However, Cube2 is much worse than the original with really sketchy acting and a poor plot. Nevertheless I stuck it out till the end just so I know what happened.
