Lion King DVD
Oct. 31st, 2003 10:55 pmI've had the DVD boxset of The Lion King ordered since I knew there was a box set version. When my Dad received the Region 1 (US) box set version, I was very impressed and was looking forward to getting the Region 2 (UK) equivilant. However, I actually saw the UK box set in the shops today and it certainly didn't look like what my Dad had. The UK box looks like something you'd give to a child for Christmas, not something more suitable to an adult collector. Turns out the difference is that the UK box set is called a "gift set" and the US one is called the "collectors edition". I was quite gutted at this and tried to cancel my order with Play but alas, it was already packing so I couldn't cancel. Regardless, I've ordered the Region 1 Collectors Edition for a whole £17 including postage from a Canadian site called www.dvdsoon.com. I'll either give the UK set away as a present or sell it on eBay.
For those who want to see the difference, this is the US collectors edition and this is the UK gift set. You can see why I'm a bit upset.
Meanwhile, it looks like The Lion King 2: Simbas Pride is selling extrodinarily well on eBay. Not a clue why, it was rubbish. Maybe you can't buy it anymore. Anyway, I've still got the DVD, maybe I should sell it and see if I can get the £50 that is seems to be going for...
