Weekendage
Nov. 16th, 2003 08:58 pmStarted the weekend by going to the Erotica 2003 thing at Olympia on Saturday with
gerald_duck,
hawx,
timmypup,
xendragon,
ruination and
kalipha. Wasn't quite what I expected... but then I wasn't too sure what to expect. I guess I was expecting something extraordinary but what I got was a regular exhibition (I've been to a few at Olympia before), but this time the exhibitors were those from sex shops. We were due stay there for 7 hours according to Gerald's scheduling but we decided we had seen it all after about 2 hours.
So myself, Ruin, Hawx, Xen and Tim made our way to the new LondonFur pub in London Bridge. First impressions were, "it looks a bit posh". The "function room" we supposedly had reserved wasn't a room at all, it was just an upper balcony type area of the pub. We had gotten there jsut too late as last orders were at 4pm. Kinda gutted at this, I had to make do without any alcoholism. We soon got booted out (we were allegedly supposed to be able to stay until 5pm) and Makali decided to go to some pub in Leicester Square. I wasn't so sure that this was a wise idea as Leicester Square on a Saturday at 5pm is bound to be jam packed...
And sure enough, it was. For some reason the furs wanted to go to the Zoo Bar (possibly due to it's name alone) but it was quite a dull, packed place so myself, Tim, Xen and Hawx decided to venture elsewhere. We checked out the Weatherspoons but that was packed too so we went to the pub previously known as West Central. It used to be gay but now they showed football... Anyway, we got there just as some folks left and so we finally had a drink and a nice sit down. Xen was getting quite drained at this stage as her illness was getting the better of her but the sit down did her good.
Considering Xen's condition, it was dependant on her as to wether we went on to the Spaghetti House with Gerald as planned or cut the day short and go home (to Tim and Xen's) early. We finally came to the conclusion that it would be best to go home early as Xen really did look worse for wear. Met up with Gerald en-route to going home and made our goodbye's before getting the tube to Waterloo.
Was quite an amusing train journey as the train was one of those old slam door trains and you have little 1st class compartments. Well we had one of those compartments (there's always one non-1st class compartment on every train) which allowed for us to look at our stuff from the exhibition. At one stage, we were all reading porn which was quite a surreal thing really. Tim took photos which I hope to see soon as they should be a giggle. We got off the train at a very dark station. We had to use torches to find our way back. Fortunately, Tim's house isn't that far from the station. When we did get there, we mostly collapsed on the bed. Tim and I (well mostly Tim) cooked chicken kievs with pasta in tomato sauce which was realy nice and then we watched Ghostbusters on DVD. I've not seen that film in like 10 years so it was interesting to watch it as an adult and see what I missed.
I slept on the floor (with oddly enough, a Ghostbusters duvet and pillow set) but as there is no carpet, it was really uncomfortable. Somehow I got some sleep but once I woke up around half 6, I wasn't really in the mood for sleeping again. Tim left for work around 7-8ish and I had a shower. Finally the others woke up after I had a shower and we decided to go down the pub for a meal and then I'd get the train home. However, the train I was due to get at 13:37, wasn't so l33t as it was cancelled. Walked back to the house until it was time for me to leave again which was a shame as I was planning to get back to Southampton in time to buy a phone. However, I did finally get home at around 5 at a cost of nothing due to lack of ticket collectors :).
Hmm, I've ended up blathering on about uninteresting things again. Anyway, it was a fun weekend, was just a shame Xen was ill and I was also bunged up with a cold. Ah well, was nice to finally see Tim's place and stuff.
