Texted a friend this morning before midday asking if he wanted to go to town as, in contrast to yesterday, it was clear blue skies and seemed really good weather. All went fine, did plenty of looking around but didn't get myself anything. Anyway, sometime around 4pm, it started raining and just in the time it took to get to the train station, I got fairly wet.

There were many delays and fuckups with the trains so didn't get to my destination station until around 5. By which time, the rain had picked up and it was starting to flood in places. The main road (which is on a hill) which I have to walk up to get home was like a river! Needless to say, I got soaked to the bone and rather concerned about my new shoes which were totally saturated. I'm just hoping it rains enough now to flood the train lines so I can't go to work tomorrow.

Hmm. Bit of a bugger, that, but I don't see in what sense it's ironic (other than the Alanis Morissette one, of course). (-8

The centre of our village flooded yesterday — a combination of the thaw and fresh rains. Fortunately, we're quite a long way upstream, so the water drains away as fast as it arrives unless there's really sustained rain.

Hmm yes, I guess it was more Alanis Morisette irony than true irony. In that I wanted to go to town as the weather was nice but then I ended up almost drowning.
