slycat | The Last Day

Today is my last day working for my current company. It is the last day that I have to get up at this ungodly hour. It is the last day that I have to get the train into London to get to work for 8.30am. It is the last day I will see my work collegues.

Most of the loose ends are now tied up, tasks that previously only I could do have now been passed on, there isn't much left for me to do. So when I get to work today, I plan to do as little "work" as possible before going to the pub with my workmates for a few drinks to celebrate my departure. Technically, as I've been paid already, I have no real reason to go in to work at all today, but I've arranged for the drinking session and I don't want to let my previous colegues and friends down. who knows? I may even get a card signed by everyone and a small present like most people do... but then I'm sure I would have noticed them sneaking such things around my back so maybe they havn't bothered for me.

You can't stay in a job for 6 years and not let it become a part of you. I mean, this is the only full time job I've ever had so far, it's all I've known. Finally I've been able to break free and start anew. I'll miss my old workmates, heck, I may even miss my old workplace at times but that seems doubtful. I'll be able to keep in contact with my ex-workmates via MSN so at least I'll be able to catch up on the gossip and see if the new boy lives up to the legend that is me ;).

So here's to the end of an era, at 6 years, it's been quite a large portion of my life, but now I am happy to be moving on. I just hope I'm doing the right thing.
