Oi! That's my domain that is!
Dec. 18th, 2001 09:53 pmMy domain has been down for 2 days now and I was getting a bit suspicious. They hadn't contacted me or anything so I sent them an email. I then realised that they could have been using my old email address so I checked that and there were 2 emails from my domain host.
The first (Sent in November) complained that I was using "IRC related files" on my domain and so the account would be cancelled. This was a bit of a shock and emailed them to ask why. The files don't use their servers...
The second (Sent on the 17th) said that the account was being removed due to my having a .wma file there (Microsoft's version of MP3) and the people who host the server not being happy about it.
So I've been without my furry email for 2 days now and all the work I did on my site has gone to waste as folks can't see it. I know I was stupid to put illegal files on there but I didn't plan to have them there for more than a week... Oh well, I suppose I learn't my lesson there. It would appear that I'm always getting into trouble with domain hosts, hence I move around servers so much. Before it was referring to a link to eurotrash of all things. I mean come on!
Domain hosts are wankers IMO. The one I'm with have been really good value for money until this happened. The hosts themselves say that the UNIX servers (Of which I have an account on) are not actually based at their offices, they are run by a third party service provider and it was this proider that complained. They have a "no second chance" policy apparantly. The domain host have informed me that they are getting their own UNIX servers in a few months but in the meantime I can move to a Windows 2000 server to which I have said that that is acceptable.
Hopefully the site will be back to it's former glory soon. Sorry if I've not got back to you. If you need to contact me, you can email my Yahoo! Mail account on slycatuk@yahoo.co.uk.
The email in full (edited slightly):
