I've not written in here for almost 2 weeks so I should probably write something.  Truth be told, other than being depressed and stressed from work, there's not been much worth writing about.  However, I did have a nice day out yesterday with [livejournal.com profile] xendragon, even if she did turn up and hour and a half late ;).  We wondered about Southampton's shops and stuff.  As I didn't really want anything apart from maybe some new trainers or a winter coat, I just took Xen around to shops so she could get what she was after.  Amusingly, that was an Elvis wig from the fancy dress shop and the new William Shatner album from HMV :P.

After shopping, we went off to the arthouse cinema, Harbour Lights (almost, I thought I had got us lost at one stage) to see Hero.  From the trailer, it looked quite action packed and had fancy special effects, whereas in reviews they had said it was like Crouching Tiger so I wasn't too sure what to expect.  However in watching it, the pace was much slower than I expected, as Crouching Tiger was but it also had some very stylish, eye-popping fight scenes.  As for the story, without giving too much away, it's almost like a Tarantino film (I can see why he liked it so much now) where the same story is retold as you slowly work out what actually happened.  It was quite a nice story but as Xen says, a tragic ending.  However, as the film appeared to be retelling Chinese history (things I had never known about before like the 6 nations before they became China) and as such, couldn't start making stuff up.  I think I'd like to see it again so I can get more from it.

After filmage, we went off to a pub.  Ended up in the Avondale House which is quite a hi-tech pub as in it has TFT screens everywhere showing football/video jukebox and they also had an Xbox Live thing where you could play Xbox games which looked cool but I didn't have a go (got it at home anyway).  We got a nice comfy sofa thing and had a good chat about stuff while drinking alcohol.  I even got a round of Jagermeisters.  Never had it before but looked interesting.  We decided that it tasted like a super concentrated vodka and coke which is no bad thing in itself.

Anyhoo, after that, we went on to another pub to meet up with my brother and his friends cos they were going off to a curry house and Xen fancied a curry.  What I didn't realise however was that the table was booked for curry at 11pm which meant Xen couldn't stay for curry and get a train home.  In the end Xen decided to go home, and so I showed her to the train station and advised her to buy a Choc Mint Frijj cos they're so nice :).

Rejoined my bro and his gang for more beers and alcohol related stuff before having a lovely curry at the Natraj.  My only regret was not having enough capacity to finished all of what I had ordered (Onion Baji starter, Chicken Tikka Bhuna Balti with Pilau rice and a Keema Naan).  I was probably full from the beer I had previously.  Anyway, it was a nice meal to finish a great day out.  Much better that my previous weekends anyway.

today, I'm just sitting around, playing games on Xbox Live and generally relaxing, which rather than feel boring, feels like a nice thing to do right now! :)
