Who gives you extra?
Oct. 31st, 2004 08:36 pmCharges that is. Yes, my new credit card company is Halifax. I went with them to continue my 0% loan (balance transfer) via credit cards. I transferred my total amount from my other two cards which came to a total of £2000. Halifax gave me a credit limit of £2000 so I was already at my limit. This in itself wasn't a problem as I didn't have any intention on spending more on the card, just using it as a way to pay off my debts. However, yesterday I get a nasty shock in the form of a letter stating that I was over my limit and would have to pay £40 penalty and this would be a black mark on my credit record! I thought, hold on guys, you hadn't even sent me my first bill yet! So I call them up (thankfully they are open on a Saturday) and was informed that it was a computer glitch and should never have happened. The charges would be reversed and so would any potential black marks on my credit record. Fair enough, but still, this does not inspire confidence in my new credit card company... Bah. If I see that twonk with the thick round glasses in the street, I'll give him a slap :P
In other news, as it's Halloween today, I convinced my brother to go and see The Grudge at the flicks as it's on preview over the weekend. My bro gets the equivilent of a student discount with his subscription to Empire magazine so it's only £4.70 a ticket :). Anyway, the film itself I found to be rather scary and disturbing at times, although it had little to no plot and felt at times that it was just a series of scary moments (reminded me of Doom 3 in that sense). It's easy to compare it with The Ring which was also a Hollywood remake of a Japanese horror but that had a decent plot as well as the scary moments. Another comparison between the two is that the baddie has long black hair... what is the Japanese obsession with that anyway? ;). So after the film, my bro goes to get the parking ticket stamped and I go off to the bogs. However, when I come out my bro is nowhere to be seen. I waited, wondered a bit and waited more... started to get worried and called him. Phone was still off from being in cinema. Waited more... got rather worried and just walked towards the car. Lo' and behold, there he was. Bah, after watching a disturbing horror film, it was rather disconcerting to find that your brother had disappeared. Rather embarrasing now though :P.
Finally, I'm selling tonnes of stuff in an effort to pay for presents and stuff this Christmas. I plan to put most of it all on eBay after my holiday but I thought I'd give my LJ friends first dibs. There's no prices so if you're interested, give me a reasonable price and I'll let you know. Find lists of all of the stuff I'm selling at this link: http://www.slycat.co.uk/buymystuff.htm (shamelessly created using MS Excel).

Now, if he'd really been thinking, he'd have obtained some fake blood earlier in the day and lain strewn by the car.. ^_^
I notice Hero is playing at the Chapter.. that might be one to see, given I've heard uniformly good word on it. Maybe even tomorrow, as it's much easier for me to relax in a setting like the Chapter, than back home, with the usual hullabaloo, and I've not been along there since Akira's untimely departure. (For Arkansas, that is)

Now I thought he was actually playing a trick on me anyway. I had the same thought that he could have done some such thing :P
