After looking at my financial situation and chatting with [livejournal.com profile] thalyi, I know that I won't be able to get to AC2005, however I should be able to get to FC2006 without any monetary problems at all.  Other reasons to go is that I've never been to that coast of America before and it's off peak season so the flights are half price.  Now, I don't want to go all that way to only stay in a hotel and not see anything so I'd like to make a holiday out of it.  That said, myself being unable to drive makes that a difficult thing to do (it's unlikely I'll know how to drive by then and have the confidence to drive on the wrong side fo the road ;), so I'm not sure how I'd manage that unless I go with someone who can drive.  When I went to AC02, the surrounding time was spent at [livejournal.com profile] daiwuff's place and she drove us about places and stuff and it made for a very fun holiday.

Sooo, my question is, is anyone interested in going down to FC2006 with me?  Need to start thinking about organising it really... don't like leaving things like this to the last minute (although I admit it is a good 9 months before the con yet).

Edit: As I plan it in my head, FC runs from Thurs - Monday for 2006, it's close to San Francisco so would like to check it out maybe for a day or two before going down to LA for the attractions there... most likely fly out of LA too to save having to get back up to San Francisco

I keep stating that I would like to make a con but again, this year just isnt going to be financially viable. I have decided I would like to try MFM next yera, although this is over a year away. I wouldnt mind attempting to make it to another so could possibly count me in. Of course, this is all priliminary planning. I dont even know if I could afford it next year (im not strict enough with my money sometimes). But I am serious about wanting to go...so keep me posted!

You're never gonna have enough money if you keep on buying fursuits ;)

Seriously though, it would be good to have you along. I'm forming a plan in my mind to do a 2 part holiday; do the whole FC thing and follow up with going down to LA and doing stuff there like theme parks and sights :)

I would definately be up for the holiday idea. I did the Cali coast in the closing days of my time in the states when living there and it was awesome! I have a few friends in that part of the world too that Im sure would always be interested in accomodating furs etc.. if given anough advanced notice :)

Speaking of the suit btw, will try to get some photos for thee most shortly :) Nned help putting it on tho as I can velcro up on my own *chuckles* and seeing as I live alone, its hard to get the photos at the mo LoL!

It would be cool to meet up with some furs outside the con, that's what made my trip to AC02 so much more fun. I don't really know any furs that side of the continent however.

With the suit, you may want to look into getting a zip fitted or something. That said, I managed to do it up myself when I had the suit :)

I won't be going to AC after all, so I'll be up for FC next year!

Cool! would you just be after a room share or you wanna see about doing other stuff for the trip too? I know you like to live up to your name and visit random furs after the cons.

Well I'll have a think about what I'm doing, but LA sounds like a good idea, and I'd be up to seeing SanFran' properly this time, rather than spend half a day there last time!

Problem is that all the hotel costs will add up, need to find furs in the area who can accomodate us :P. I was thinking of arriving in San Francisco on Wed 18th Jan and either get a connecting flight to San Jose or drive down (depending on company) and check into the con hotel. Do the con thing until Tuesday, check out and go back to San Francisco. Maybe stay there for 2 nights to take in the place (go to Alcatraz and stuff!) and on the Thursday travel down to LA (either by car or train, pending on company). Probably want to spend at least 4 nights in LA as I know I want at least one day at Six Flags Magic Mountain being the theme park / roller coaster lover that I am and then maybe fly back on the Monday from LA.

Fortunately, if I booked today for example, the flights from Heathrow to San Francisco on 18th and return from Los Angeles on the 30th currently come to £210 which is a very good price :).

If you're thinking of heading down to SoCal, you might look into taking the Coast Starlight train, which winds down the coastline. It's a leisurely way of getting there, to be sure, but there are some glorious views to be had along the way - and being a train, of course, you're free to wander around in more comfort than the average cattle class flight. (The highlight for me, though, was seeing a dolphin frolicking near the beach just before Oxnard. First time I saw it, I didn't quite believe what I'd seen, until it repeated the leap a few seconds later)

And of course, let's not forget the red pandas at the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park (two at each). ^_^ If you only have time for one, maybe the Zoo's better "per hour", as it were - you can easily spend a complete day and still have to scurry past some sections, whereas the WAP's walkable area's much smaller, with the emphasis being the wide open spaces for the residents, but only viewable from the miniature trains.

And while in the City, walk up to somewhere around 22nd & Noe - the view's amazing. (Actually, they're not bad on the ferry from the Ferry Terminal to Larkspur, either, affording scenes literally all around the bay.

It depends on who I go with really. If I go with a driver or two, it's likely we'd do the road trip thing down to LA. Dunno if we'd be going to San Diego but I am planning 4 nights in the area so could fit it in :)
