In an effort to commit to my plans to go to FC, I've pre-registered for the con!  I expect I'll book a room for the con once I've been paid (although I think you only pay when you check in?).  Even though it's rather far away, I'm rather looking forward to it all.  I've not been to the states since AC02... I've not really been on holiday since then either, apart from my 3 night trip to Amsterdam in November last year.

Worth keeping an eye on the room situation, as popular furcons pretty much always seem to sell out their allocations a couple months ahead of time. You shouldn't get charged until you check out, but it's possible they might place a "reserve" on some amount, which'd lower your available credit. Unlikely, though - that's more something done with ski equipment or car rentals.

I wonder if they request people not to make silly faces as they take your photo at immigration now? (And fingerprints. The War on Terra, dontchaknow)

I've not been to America since the 9/11 thing so am not familliar with their new immigration procedures... what's new? You have to have your photo and fingerprints taken on entry to the country? It's almost as if they don't want you to visit!
