Got my new camera yesterday (Fuji FinePix E550) and took a few test shots.  I'm quite impressed with the quality of the auto shots.  The camera also has full manual functionality so if I feel braver, I caqn take more control with my shots.  One thing I am impressed with is the speed the thing turns on and is ready to use... takes all of a second for the zoom lense to fully expand and be ready.

Anyway here are the photos I've taken so far:

Note: To get the full 6megapixel photo, after clicking the thumbnail on the page, you need to click the slightly larger photo. Be warned, they are 1.5mb a photo.

Looking good :D

Lovely crisp blacks in the low-light shots (illuminated keyboard) and the picture of the showerhead was fun :)

Yeah, I was playing about trying the different modes and stuff. I like the way that increasing the sutter speed makes things freeze in time like that :)

I want one of those keyboards, who do I have to burninate to get one?

if you burninate the cat, then I'm sure he won't have a use for it? *grins and hides before Sly gets back to put me on his 'burninate' list*

I found someone who was selling them on eBay in the UK, found out the computer shop he was buying them from and bought one from there. Maplins do one but it's not very good (anyway, the surround is silver rather than black). Can't remember where I got it now... but just google for electro-luminescant keyboards, I'm sure you'll find something.

One thing worth pointing out though is that they are much smaller than normal full size PC keyboards (well, at least my one is), so you can accidentally type the wrong key from time to time.

On an unrelated note, I was reading your post about Chessington...I miss those times - everyone was friends and we had a lot of laughs :)

Yeah, I put that in my memories when I was going to go through my LJ and add all the stuff I'd like to remember... however I gave up after that one.

I remember that time fondly, would be nice to do something like that again. However as far as theme parks in the south go, Thorpe Park is the one for young adults now as they've kiddified Chessington.

The first digital camera I ever bought was a Fujifilm Finepix 2200, and 3 years later it's still working perfectly. Sticking with them, I recently bought another camera for my photography artwork, the Finepix 5500.

The best things about the Fujifilm digital cameras is that they're very simple to use and the photographs they take are crystal clear with realistic colours. I'd always recommend them.

I'm very impressed with my purchase so far. I'm just a little annoyed that the memory card which was dispatched seperately hasn't arrived. 16mb isn't enough for a day of 6mp photos!

Looking good! I'll certainly be picking up some sort of digital camera when finances are less wheezy. The ol' coal-fired camcorder works well (Hi-8, so the resolution's fairly good), but still, not in the same league as even a cheap camera for stills. Decent zoom functionality seems to be gradually coming down in price, too, which'd be very helpful for zoo and wildlife pics, given red pandas are often to be found snoozing up above, and seldom pose for photos, with the exception of folks like Futa. ^_^

(Needless to say, if you're at a zoo sometime, I'd love to see any red panda pics you might take!)

When I was considering zoom functionality, I was thinking about wildlife of another kind. I remember when I was at Anthrocon 2002 and I wasn't able to get any decent photos at the masquarade as I was too far back in the audience and my zoom was only 2x (true the camera was poo too).
