Furry documentaries & thoughts on furry
Aug. 14th, 2005 01:13 pmSince I updated the downloads page on my site, I thought I should watch through them again as I haven't in a long time. One common thread between them all is that the people interviewed in them describe furry as embracing their inner animal or to have behavioural traits like those of their chosen animal. However it's not like that for me as I don't feel any emotion towards any species of animal, nor do I feel that I share any particular behavioural traits. I'm sure it's not just me in the furry fandom that feels like this, I guess the documentary makers find that it's more entertaining or interesting for those who have a spiritual side.
I got into furry by searching for images of furry costumes of all things. I was just interested in how they looked and was interested in seeing how wearing one would feel for myself, etc. From my initial internet searches, I of course learnt the term Fursuit and it all snowballed from there. I kinda lost touch fursuiting community back in around 2000/01 as I found myself talking more with UK furs than the Americans and the split into FurNet and AnthroChat didn't help cos the UK furs generally stick to FurNet and the Americans hang out on AnthroChat. However, since June, I've taken it upon myself to visit AnthroChat more often and have re-established many of the links with the furs I used to know and have been making friends with new people. Despite currently being fursuitless, I do expect to get another sometime in the future...

Date: 2005-08-14 10:41 pm (UTC)I asked someone about it who told me it was probably a fur. This terminology was then explained to me and so i then explored a little more and found FM. It all developed form there....and eventually into my interest in the artwork. I have no shame in admitting I love the yiff artwork and love drawing it....and it is still one of my main interests. I also eventually got into the fursuiting side of things (thanks to yourself) and now, Im where I am now :)
