Scruff pointed out to me that the new show based around "updated" versions of the Looney Tunes characters aired at the weekend in America so I decided to get a torrent and download it myself.

After watching it, I can honestly say that it's an atrocity to even be looseley connected to the Looney Tunes.  The show is basically like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (their favoured food is even pizza) in the future (kinda made me think of Samurai Jack).  The team of characters are the good guys and they fight the bad guys.  That's pretty much it.  It's basically corporate America's idea of what they think anime should be, with all action and no plot.  Yes, I guess it is aimed at kids, but really, if you're gonna do a show like this, don't rape the great characters you had before, do something different.  Despite their efforts to make the action scenes "cool", they mostly ended up feeling like something from the old Spiderman cartoon or similar shows but with a few anime style action flying punch type things thrown in for good measure (you know the sort, with the reduced detail flashy backgrounds giving the idea something fast is happening).

They do try to inject some humour into it, but the humour which is there mostly referers to old well known jokes from the original Looney Tunes cartoons and even then the jokes seem out of place and forced for the mood the show seems to otherwise be trying to set. Also, they tried to give Ace (Bugs' updated equivilent) a bit of a bronx accent like Bugs had, but the voice actor just can't manage it and it just makes the character sound crap.

On the whole, I was really disappointed by the show, can't say I'd be interested in seeing the next episode.  I expect the kids will lap it up though.

Personally, if I was a child between 6 and 10 years. Seeing black, sharply angled things like those characters would give me nightmares..

Saying that though, I was a very sensative youngster.

I think it's more aimed at the 10+ age range anyway, where they all like Dragonball Z and Yi-Gi-Oh and the like.

That animation is great.

Although I doubt the series is quite like that.

It saddens me to think that we have to rape and defile the past in order for there to be new cartoons. Can't they, like, make up a new character?

Well, without the swearing and sexual references, it is pretty much what the new characters are like. Exaggerated to the millionth degree for comedy of course but the gist is still the same. The new characters are supposed to be "cool"!

Yeah, I'm glad they didn't do an extreme Sylvester. Still, if the show gets picked up for a second series, there's nothing to stop them introducing new characters. Although with a Daffy-a-like, I guess they already have one bumbling idiot.

Considering what they did to "Tech E Coyote", I wouldn't be surprised his "descendant" was the greatest hunter/tracker of all time..

The following day, I had to remind myself I'd watched it, such a lasting impression it'd made. ^_^;

PS. You really are wrong in the head if you actually like this show. Did you actually read what I said or did you just look at the picture?
