OK, so yesterday, I went to London with my friend, Paul, who is a day younger than me. On the way in to London on the train, we kinda got a plan of attack together as we were gonna go to Camden Town and have a look around and then come back to Leicester Square and go round the area there and end up in a pub.

That was the plan anyways...

Once we got in to Waterloo, Paul said that he was feeling quite under the weather due to only 3 hours sleep and much drink the night before so he decided to try an expresso in an attempt to wake him up. Neither Paul or myself had tried an expresso before but he soon realised that it is a rather vile beverage.

As we were at Waterloo and Paul hadn't seen much of London, I suggested taking him to the London Eye and we could go to Namco too as it was all only a short walk away. After fighting our way through hoardes of tourists, we got into Namco Station where we played a round of bowling. In my first frame, I got two gutter balls. I then got two strikes in a row :o). Was a close match but I managed to just pip him at the post with my 107 points verses his 103. I was happy with that score as I'm often much worse ;o)

Right next to the bowling was the DDR machine. Paul hadn't see me play it before but said he wouldnt mind watching. There wasn't anyone on it so I had a go. I selected 'Captain Jack' and before the music started, a kid asked me if I was any good at this track. I said 'I'm OK'. I then got a perfect game, AAA rank :) I impressed even myself. A girl asked me how often I played. I said around once a fortnight. I played 'Dynamite Rave' and then 'Do it all Night' on difficult managing to suprise Paul with my twirly goodness as one of the moves in that track.

Left the game feeling quite pleased with myself and Paul was in awe of how good I was and stuff which was kinda funny. Next stop was Camden so we walked back to Waterloo Underground and got the Northern Line up.

We walked down to the Camden Lock market only to find a fraction of the stalls were actually open. Paul decided he would go in search of a pipe and a New Found Glory or Lost Prophets t-shirt. I wasn't really looking for anything but was happy to browse. There were some pipes in the Camden Canal market but nothing that took Paul's fancy. We then wondered around the Camden market and Paul found an interesting Jack Daniels pipe but never did find any of the t-shirts he was after...

Back on to the tube (Oddly enough, the escalators were *fixed* at Camden which has gotta be a first for me), we got off at Leicester Square and decided to go for food. After much pondering, we decided on a Pizza Hut. Somehow, out of the thousand Pizza Huts in central London, we managed to pick the one that didn't have any chicken left so we opted for a Stuffed Crust Meat Feast. I thought it was quite nice but Paul didn't think much of it and we both got full after 2 slices each anyways. Got the Pizza to go and then ventured off.

The plan was to walk from Leicester Square and go round the shops via Picadilly Circus, Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and returning to Leicester Square for drinks.

Stopped off at HMV at the Trocadero, and browsed the music, games and DVDs available. As I was in a money saving mood, I didn't buy anything. Paul got some CDs.

Continued our way round, into Regent Street where all of the shops are extremely posh and stuff. Paul wanted to go into Hamleys so we went in there and had a look around but didn't find anything worth getting. Paul was looking after some Star Wars or Futurama stuff but wasnt really much to choose from.

Left Hamleys and continued on to Oxford Circus and down Oxford Street. Had a quick look in Dixons as I was after a new MP3/CD player but they didn't have the one I wanted (Just as well I suppose, save me money and stuff :). Walked down to Tottenham Court Road and then went down Charing Cross Road, back to Leicester Square. Showed Paul where I lived for 3 months on the way down.

Once back at Leicester Square, we went into the Moon Under Water Weatherspoons pub where we found that there were no seats and barely any standing room. For some reason, not many people had realised that they can sit at the tables outside. I got the first round - Paul had a Weatherbull (Double Vodka + Red Bull) and I had a Niagra AKA GREEN! (Vodka + Blue Curaco + Red Bull).

Sat at the tables outside and wondered what the heck they were doing with the Odean cinema next door. There were rows of seats facing the cinema (quite closely) and they were putting together some boards or something. We presumed that it was something to do with the Gala Premier of the new Harry Potter movie. No idea what the seats were in aid of.

After a few slurps of my drink, I somehow managed to lose grip of the glass, allowing all the contents to be emptied over the floor. I was not best pleased... By the time we were on our second round, some policemen came up to us and asked us to move as there wasnt enough space for pedestrians to get by behind us, due to the seating that had been errected. We moved into the pub and stood around drinking as that was all we could do. Drinks finished, I suggested moving on to the Trocadero.

In the Troc, I went over to the DDR machine and had another go as no-one was on the machine. Then we played a game of Star Wars Arcade which I was just better than Paul at. Had a go on a few of the pinball machines and had a go on House of the Dead 1. Next, we played Daytona where I won... just barely - was a good game. On our way down, I had go on the other DDR game and we played Air Hockey. Paul won both games. Um, showed Paul the Police 24/7 game where you physically move your body to dodge bullets and stuff. I'm still no good at the game however ;o)

That was more or less it as we couldnt go to a pub due to them being packed and so we got the train home. Was a fun day which may have been better through more people and more planning...

I'm still kinda tired and my limbs are a bit achy from all the walking and DDR so I'm gonna go off to have a shower and food...

Cool movie!

Just been channel flicking and ended up watching what I first thought was 'The Last Starfighter'. It was a film starring Emilio Estevez as a young teen who was obsessed with playing a video game called the 'Bishop of Battle' where he had to get to the 13th level and stuff.

After a bit of research (Cos I wasnt sure if it was The Last Starfighter), I found that it was in fact a film of short stories called 'Nightmares'.

The short story itself was kinda cool which ended (Turn away now if you don't want to know the ending) with J.J. (Emilio's character) sneaking away during the night to play this game where he actually does get to the 13th level, upon where the game disintegrates and then the wireframe enemies come out into real life where he then has to shoot them. He cacks his pants (Natually) and makes a run for it. Once he thinks he's safe, he gets caught and a big wireframe head eats him. Next day at the games arcade, they see J.J. in the game as the character and stuff.

A great Twilight zone inspired bit of entertainment I thought. The rest of the shorts werent that good but the 'Bishop of Battle' is good enough to carry the film ;o)
