Argh! No more commuting!
Aug. 28th, 2003 09:57 pmI've been getting up at 5.15am every morning to leave the house at 6am to walk down to the train station to catch the train at 6.30am. I don't normally have to do this as I would normally get a lift to the station in Eastleigh from my parents. However, they are off on hols this week. If it wasn't for my brother, I wouldn't get home until 8.30pm at night but fortunately due to his lifts, I get home at the more respectable 7.30pm. Needless to say, I've been doing the extra early wake up since Tuesday and it's already taking it's toll.
However, this evening, I missed the train I wanted to get to Waterloo from work and the next one was cancelled. This meant that rather than the 6.05pm train, I had to get the 6.30pm train. all was well, the train was there before the departure time (which is always a good sign it's going to go on time) but then at about 6.25pm, the power all over the South West of London went out! This meant that all the signals at Waterloo were out and we weren't able to depart the station. The train still had power as obviously it has it's own power storage but everywhere outside the train was eeriely dark. The guard announced over the train's PA system that we could be in for a long delay... Half an hour later they power was back and then after a further half an hour we were off... My brother thankfully gave me a lift again but I didn't get home until 8.50pm tonight. That means I have been out the house for 15hrs just going to, being at, and coming back from work!
I seriously need to get out of this job in London, I'm not too sure how much longer I can cope :( It's bad enough having to rely on lifts which makes me feel like I'm a burden on others. I need a local job (yes, yes for local people) sooner rather than later so I can get my own arse to work and not have to rely on others.
