End of another weekend
Feb. 8th, 2004 06:51 pmAnd again, I didn't really get anything constructive done like work on my course or selling the tonnes of crap I need to sell on eBay. Instead, on Saturday, I chose to go to the LondonFur meet. I hadn't been since last year and it was a new, promising venue so I thought I'd go along.
After backtracking myself twice, I found the place. It's just round the back of Waterloo which makes things easy for me as that's the terminal I use to get into London. The function room was large but dull and there was no bar upstairs but otherwise it was a decent venue to use, that said, anything's better than The Barrowboy and Banker. I met up with many people I hadn't sene in ages and breifly spoke to some I hadn't met before. It seems that every time I go, there's another 10 new people I don't reckognise... I remember the times when I used to know everyone by name.
After moping about at the pub,
bhavfox,
nonezumi and I met up with
makali and walked over to Namco Station. Played tragically at pool, chipping the balls off the table at least twice (you would have thought that after the years I've been playing pool, I would have stopped doing that). Had some grub in the form of chicken curry, rice and chips before having a few goes on the new Outrun 2 and then buggering off home.
No, I didn't really do much but then, I didn't really want to do much. Couldn't go shopping due to lack of funds and I managed to save on a tube ticket as we never really left South Bank. That said, I still spent £20 which I shouldn't really have spent. Still, I had a good day none-the-less.
Today my brother invited me out to sunny Portsmouth where we wondered around the shops, had a coffee (well, hot chocolate for me as I don't like coffee) in the bookshop and bought much chocolate in the Cadbury's Factory Store (despite knowing I have a dentist appointment tomorrow) before going to the cinema to see Jack Black's new film, School of Rock. The film was thoroughly entertaining with many laugh out loud moments. True, the essential formula of the film had been done a million times before but it was really well done. You could tell the part had more or less been written for Jack Black as he was in his element in the role. Tenacious D fans will not be disappointed :P
