Had a good day today mostly due to the fact that I had a dentist appointment this morning. Dentist appointments aren't widely regarded as good things but it my case, it meant that I could have a lie in, meaning I can get up 7.30am rather than 5.40am and I'll miss almost half a day of work as a result.

Now it seemed that my body knew I should be up at 7.30am but my mind was saying 8am for some reason. My body woke me up at 7.30am as it should have done but this time didn't strike my mind as anything important so I decided to catch 30 extra minutes sleep. I awoke at 8am suddenly realising I had an appointment in 40minutes and it takes 20minutes to walk there. Someone was in the bathroom as well which didn't make thing any easier. regardless, I made it to the dentist's at 8.35am, 5 minutes early... or so I thought. Turns out the appointment was at 8.30am. D'oh! It wasn't too much of a problem, the checkup went through without a hitch although the dentist decided to give my teeth a polish while I was there. What was probably no more than 5 minutes, it felt like an eternity of pain from sensitive teeth, dry mouth due to the sucky-thing the nurse uses and high pitch squeeling which bores right into your brain... Paid £44 for the privilage (They were NHS but then went private).

After all that, my day was getting better as the journey to work was suprisingly stress free. As I was getting the 9.45am into London there were no armies of suited commuters armed with their breifcases, nokia tune bearing mobile phones or deadly serious / emotionless experessions. Instead it was a nice and relaxed journey, I took time to appreciate the beautiful clear blue sky as I whizzed through southern England.

Got to work at 11.30am (after catching a bite to eat at Waterloo) and was greatful to hear that the "data service" which I am usually responsible for on a Monday morning was done for me and the rest of the day wasn't stressfull by any means. I was noticeably less wound up than I normally am at work, it was almost as if I was on drugs. :)

It's a shame I can't go to work late every day... (or not at all!) but sadly that's not going to happen. As we have to use our holidays up by the end of the month, I took off next Monday too so I can have another lie in and get some things done.
