More hi-techery nonsense
Apr. 5th, 2004 07:14 pmToday, I got to show off the full potential of my phone by going on IRC while walking down to the shops and DCCing a photo I took on my travels to Hawx. It's great to be able to do this and, as GPRS is charged by the Kb, relatively cheap to go on IRC (a half an hour session was only 25k). I see this sort of application being more an appeal to mobile users than video phones do. I agree with O2 when they say they don't think video calls will be the "killer app" for 3G. No-one wants to see your face when you've just awoken, looking like death warmed up... and have to pay a premium for the privilage.
In other news, Amazon have let me down for the first time since I started using their services, back when they were just a book shop. A deliver that was due to arrive last week still hasn't arrived even though they say it was dispatched. I've waited 3 days after the delivery expected date and still nothing so I've had to give Amazon a shout to let them know of this. Hopefully they'll sort it out promptly, the order is a copy of JTHM to replace the copy I gave
shinjiwolf all those years ago, Everything Can Be Beaten, by the same author (under an alias) as it was only £2 and also The Work of Director Spike Jonze DVD to complete my Directors Label collection.
Elsewhere, the auction site I started up is finally proving to be popular as people are now happily buying and selling using it. The more people who use the site, the more stuff there will be to sell and also the more bids will be places. Maybe it'll one day challenge Furbid but I somehow doubt this ;). It's just a nice handy tool for furs to sell their stuff to a UK audience. Check it out at http://www.fursuit.co.uk/auction and tell your friends!
Erm... what else? I knew there was something... but I can't think of it right now. I expect I'll remember in the middle of the night or something. Regardless, it's that time of the year again when the theme parks have reopened. I love theme parks and so plan to visit them as much a possible :). Specifically, the Tussauds ones which are Chessington, Thorpe Park and Alton Towers. Sadly Chessington appears to have been dumbed down somewhat making it more appealing to families while the nearby Thorpe Park is for the thrill seekers in the south. I'd love to go to Alton Towers but it will be a complete arse to get to as I don't drive and public transport isn't favourable. Maybe I can find someone who drives to go along :).
