I have arrived!
Jan. 16th, 2006 11:51 amWell, to be specific, I arrived yesterday. It was a very long 15th January, I was up for at least 24hrs as it's 8hrs behind. The flight over was pretty much pain free, however our ride didn't show for the trip between the airport and our hotel so we had to make use of the public transport. It wasn't too difficult a trip, however it was hard on poor
klepsydra who had a car accident recently and wa sstill feeling the pain.
The hotel is very basic but it's good enough for our needs. I'm rooming with
nomadfox,
insofox is with
emejn and
klepsydra is with
arakinuk which works out pretty nicely.
We're mostly doing the tourist thing before FC, with shopping and sight seeing today, Alcatraz tomorrow and probably the Golden Gate bridge sometime too. We're currently in an internet cafe on Pier 39 overlooking the harbour here. It's very picturesque, plenty of photo oppertunities.
Anyway, enough for wasting time online, off to see more of this fantastic city!

Date: 2006-01-16 08:10 pm (UTC)Going to see the Haight? Pretty cool area. Drop by the Magnolia Cafe if you're wanting a good house-brewed pint - on the corner of Haight & Masonic. (I dare say you have a copy already, but you can find the Muni system maps here)
And if you want a seriously good burrito, check out El Farolito, near the 24th St BART - an extra meat super burrito will set you back all of $5.50 or so, and can double as a pillow.
Fancy sushi? One haunt I'd recommend is down on the East Bay, a modest walk from the San Leandro BART - Sushi Musashi. The baked scallop roll has to be tried, but you can't really find anything bad there. You might spot my sake bento there, too. ^_^
