Good old British weather
Jul. 22nd, 2006 05:44 pmI left the house this morning in t-shirt and shorts as it felt like another hot day (and sure enough just walking down to the train station had me sweating). However, on my way from the train station to the opticians, it starting to rain. As it was hot, I thought it was quite pleasant, but then the heavens opened and in the space of 30 seconds, I was soaked to the bone. The rain was coming down so hard it felt like it was hailing... So, being the clever person I am, I went into John Lewis which was on the way to the opticians, still soaking wet and dripping with water, and politely asked where the towels were :). Found a nice towel which was on offer for half price and went to buy it. I couldn't help feel like I should have been in some sort of candid camera show as the whole situation felt a bit odd. I certainly got some odd looks being a wet through person casually drying himself off in the middle of a shopping centre.
After feeling a bit silly at the opticians as I was still very wet, I got myself switched to daily lenses which are so much nicer than monthlies. I found I rarely wear contacts for work so I've just got 10 lenses for £10 per month which works out £5 cheaper than the monthlies I was on, plus I dont need to worry about cleaning them at the end of the day which is a relief.
What I had planned to do next was to meet up with some furs who were in town today. However thanks for mother nature, my phone had drowned and wouldn't turn on. I went into Carphone Warehouse thinking I could just go for the upgrade I've been due (I've been waiting for the Nokia N93 to come out) but couldn't be bothered with the queues. I ended up deciding to see if TK was at Sega Park (as he works there) and see about getting the numbers of people I was due to meet. However when I got to Sega Park, I found everyone I was due to meet, plus a few others were all grouped around the new Dancing Stage Supernova game, so all was well.
An interesting day to say the least, hopefully my phone can be resuscitated. If not, I'll either get a cheapo phone or actually use the upgrade. If I were to upgrade, I'd be torn between the Nokia N80 and the Sony Ericsson K800i... but I really want the Nokia N93.

Date: 2006-07-22 05:57 pm (UTC)I love the Nokia N series. I've been after one for ages, but due to complications it has been a long slog.
