I've made a few minor changes to www.root-beer.co.uk - I've updated the fact that Sainsbury's are now selling half decent root beer and also I've introduced affiliate linking for American Soda.  So, if anyone reading this ever feels like they want to buy anything from American Soda (which includes non root beer stuff like Mountain Dew), could I ask you very nicely to do so by clicking the root beer bottle on my site first.  It costs you no more to do so and I get 10% of the sale! :)

Hehe, I'd love you if you did that! It's so hard to get decent root beer here without having to pay to import it.

Hmmm. You seem like a likely person to know - where, outside of Germany and Malaysia (yes, really =:), can one find malt beer? Absolutely nummy stuff, but it's all but unknown anywhere else.

If it came to a matter of brands, VitaMalz was always my favorite. :-9

Unfortunately I've not even heard of the stuff. I'll be sure to seek it out when I go to Germany next month however :)

Oooh. ^_^ That'd be most cool!

Oh, of course! EF? Maybe I'll get along there sometime. Is it mostly outdoors? I'd prefer that, I think - hotels are all fine and well, but they sort of blend into each other after a few cons. (Well, other than the Adelphi in Liverpool. Quite a unique place =:)

Well EF is held in Nuremberg Castle which is pretty unique. I don't really know much more than that as I've not been before. I'm sure that next years will probably be in a larger location tho as I think EF is outgrowing the castle very quickly... especially considering how quickly the 400 spaces went.

There is something called 'Supermalt' that has just been introduced to the UK, it is basically the same as a malt beer (non-alcoholic, tastes like all-bran). I don't really like it (as I didn't really like VitaMalz), but it is more or less the only malt drink available here. And apparently it is brewed by the same company that do Guiness!

Ah! Indeed, that does make sense. Wonder if there's a business link between Guinness and the VitaMalz people? I was quite surprised to encounter the latter in a little grocery in the middle of Melaka, but then, there is quite a large Guinness facility in Western Kuala Lumpur. (Ahh, and all the canned fruit juices so easily available along the peninsula - not "drinks", mushed around with more sugar, flavorings, and colorings, just juices. Ah, I've got to get back there, and continue my original plan of heading NE from KL, along the jungle line.. don't know how, but it'll happen =:)

I'd be up for that.

Fruit juice is the best thing. Ever.

I like the description of Supermalt on Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermalt

It is priceless! To be honest it isn't too bad. I can only picture liquefied bran flakes when I taste it though. Hopefully the ginger version will be nice!

I've heard about it, but I've not had the chance to try it as nowhere imports it however :-/
