A while back I was quite proud that I got myself flights to LA in January for £285 as I got them discounted from £400 using a special deal with Mastercard / AA. However the same flights this month now cost £298. Further to that, the flights that Virgin were selling last month for £500 are now going for £280. Now historically I've preferred Virgin as I felt like I was getting a better level of service for the money, however I wasn't too impressed with the flight out to Chicago when I was en-route to AC earlier this year due to the small seats with no legroom and standard entertainment system. That seemed to be much better on the way back from JFK as it was a bigger plane (747-400 as opposed to the Airbus A340) which had the more recent entertainment system and more leg room but still narrow seats.

Now, my parents have suprisingly been to the states more times than I have and they recommend AA over Virgin due to their larger seats in economy (as I'm not a small person that's always good). I've looked into the entertainment system and they don't have anything more advanced than a bunch of tapes running on 2hr loops which I really hate (Why they don't all just use Video on Demand I'll never know). Other than that I've been reliably informed that AA are up to the standard of quality you get from Virgin anyway, it's just not British :P

Anyway, it now seems that flights are now rock bottom price if you were looking to get to FC!

Leg room's certainly a good point, though at the end of it, nothing affordable's really what someone could call comfy with a straight face, other than maybe Tony Blair.

As for entertainment - well, a PSP with stock battery's good for five hours or so. Add in a laptop, and you're set, let alone any wood pulp-based literature. ^_^ Virgin's choices tend to be actually worth watching, though; most others are meticulously selected to avoid the possibility of causing any offense or surprised to anyone. (As opposed to, say, "Gods and Monsters" and "South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut")

Don't suppose either's offering WiFi and in-seat power? Though I imagine any connectivity in flight wouldn't be too cheap.. power still seems to be a business class thing on many airlines, regrettably, though I suppose there's always the option of a spare battery, if you might use it at other times.

Neither have wi-fi as far as I know, however AA does have in seat power in economy where Virgin does not.

Oh god, I hate the Virgin airbus flights.
ever flown transatlantic with one butt cheek on the arm rest?
On the plus side I got a Business class upgrade for free on the way back, on AA. Very Roomy, and Kelly and I were very drunk by the time we got back (she has a way of talking the flight attendants out of lots of the little bottles, she's a good traveling companion) :D
