RSS now on Furmeets UK
Aug. 18th, 2008 10:41 pmThanks to a bit of help from
miyabisan, I've added RSS functionality to my Furmeets UK site for both the main page giving a list of all meets, as well as on the individual group pages so you can get a feed of just meets for any of the given groups. It's been something I've intended to do for ages but never bothered cos I didn't know where to start. However Miyabi helped me out (with the aid of
mattlazycat's code) and made me realise it wasn't that difficult after all. Took me a while to get my coding cogs churning as I've not had to do any code in a long time now (should do it more often really).
Anyway, with the RSS feeds in place, it allows sites to integrate meet dates with their pages like what Miyabi has now done with http://www.londonfurs.co.uk/ which is pretty damn funky. If you want, you can also add the RSS feed to your own personal RSS reader for details of upcoming meets :).
All that remains to be done on the Furmeets site is to introduce the styles I put on the main page into the sub pages, and also figure out how to get pins on the maps. Future developments will be things like clicking the map to get the co-ordinates when creating a meet and also editing existing meets (probably just for an admin access).
