My team at work gave me a £15 gift card for Game as a birthday present which was a really great surprise. However now I need to decide what to get with the card! The options I have are:
  • Fable 2 - Bro has it so could just borrow off him
  • Dead Space - Bro also has this so could just borrow it once he's done
  • Fallout 3 - Never played the first 2 but everyone's raving about it
  • Mirror's Edge - Supposed to be fantastic but not out until the 14th
  • Red Alert 3 - Looks really good, but the 360 version also isn't out until the 14th
  • Rock Band 2 - I never got the first Rock Band and now the second one is out in a month and could be a lot of fun. The instruments don't come out until December however and it'll cost a LOT, which isn't really sensible when I've a holiday to pay for in January
Or I could just get a 2100 card to get the arcade games which always seem to be great value for money...

Too many good games for the 360 out recently! Any recommendations? :P

I'm totally biased, but say Fallout 3 just because there's so much to do that if you try to do it all in one run, you'll explode. It's flawed, the PC controls are an awfully lazy port of the 360's, same shitty animation as Oblivion, certain sequences have very little crowd reaction when you'd expect and you have to know that they're broken to be able to make the choice they offer you, and it seems that the ending choice was written by a retard, as examples.
But it's huge, totally free-roaming, post-apocalyptic make-your-own adventure and with community mods will only get better.

You'd probably hate the first two anyway due to the way they've aged, but you don't need to know anything about them to play this one and should find it pretty fun.

Oops, damn my eyes. Didn't see you were talking about 360 games in the first place.

You forgot Far Cry 2 ;)

Good luck choosing, they're all supposed to be amazing. I'm working through Fable 2 at the moment, and I have Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 queued up next to my console. Kittiah played Mirror's Edge at some game expo earlier this week and said it was excellent. Personally I wouldn't go for something like C&C Red Alert on a console, but I can't actually think of a reason why it wouldn't be just fine on a console, so ... whatever :)

Far Cry 2 doesn't really register on my radar. The first one felt like a showcase for high end PCs and I didn't think it added a huge amount to the genre, do I'm not expecting much new from FC2.

Red Alert 3 won't have a chance of running on my PC so it's 360 or upgrade PC time. Though after much consideration, I think I'll be going for Fallout 3 for now. Maybe get Mirror's Edge closer to Xmas.

Fable 2 is supposed to be excellent, as is Fallout 3. Both are supposed to have some quite big flaws which are overcome by the excellent parts. Haven't played either yet, though.

Dead Space is excellent, I've hardly any bad words to say about it. Play it with headphones, that's my recommendation.

Mirror's Edge- there's a demo out, give it a try. I thought it was... meh.

Rock Band 2 is rock band 1 but with all the annoying bits fixed - so it's great.

If I get Red Alert 3, it'd be for PC. I know very little about it.
