Fun packed weekend O_o
Dec. 1st, 2002 10:01 pmYesterday, I went to down, took back my Metroid Fusion game for the GBA and exchanged it for Duke Nukem Advance at £5 less. Metroid was supposed to be really good according to the reviews I read but I found it really just bored the heck out of me. I guess you have to be an existing Metroid fan to enjoy the new one, Duke is a far better replacement (Has new levels, new guns, the original music and speech!). Also yesterday, in anticipation of watching Die Another Day that day, I bought Goldeneye and The World is Not Enough on DVD as it's BOGOF.
When it came to looking for somewhere to see Die Another Day, we went to one cinema to find it fully booked while we were in the queue so we walked a mile to the other cinema in town to find that was booked out too. Walked back again and was thoroughly knackered by this stage so went home.
Today, I got the earliest bus to Southampton to see
kashyfox. I was going to see if I could do anything to fix his new PC which seems to be DOA. Next we went to PC Arena with Kashy's dad for a day of multiplayer fun playing Battlefield 1942 and Medal of Honor. That finished at 4pm so went back to Kashy's and he managed to book tickets for the 5.45 showing of Die Another Day. In the meantime I showed Kashy's dad my Gameboy Advance with Afterburner at which he was quite impressed and then played him at Puyo Pop (A dad that not only likes playing multiplayer PC games but also has a Gameboy Advance! Why can't my dad be like that? :P ). Come 5.30, me Kashy and his little bro went off to the cinema.
After watching Die Another Day, I have to wholeheartedly agree with the review Empire magazine wrote on it. It has far too many ideas in a shorter film so the cuts are too fast from scene to scene and there's never any time to build them up. I kinda lost who the Gustav Graves person was supposed to be... When did this "Son" die? Must have gone too fast for me to notice, maybe next time round. Also the theme is pants beyond belief and should have never been allowed to be a Bond theme...
Got the bus home after a bit of waiting in the bitter cold. On the journey home, I noticed one of the most decorated (In Christmas terms) houses I've ever seen. If you have ever seen National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, it was more or less like that but the lights flashed... I'd hate to think what their power bill will be like for this month!
Got home around 9.20 and stuffed myself with an impossibly hot curry that my dad made. Bleugh! I'm all bloated now and my mouth is still tingling... Weekend's pass far too quickly for my liking these days. I guess I should stop actually doing stuff during them to stretch them out or whatever :P
