Today I learned how to download Real Audio streams (The ones you are only supposed to listen to on the net and not keep on your hard disk). I found a site that gives a really good way of doing it. Basically, you have a MP3 output plugin for WinAmp, Real Audio/Video Input plugin for WinAmp and an MP3 codec. The result is that WinAmp acts as your Real player and outputs directly to MP3 :)

I've now set about the task of downloading all of the radio streams off Warp Records' site!

If you're going to the London Meet tomorrow, I shall be there. I don't care about this march business, I'll just be going about the meet as per usual and most likely shall be going to Pizza Hut with [livejournal.com profile] cubey and others at some time. Can't spend more than what I have in my pocket (£35) so I should be careful.

See you there!

I already have Cool Edit and can tell you this is not a better way of doing it because you have to listen to the music in real time and ensure your PC makes no sounds in the meantime. Plus you're effectively sampling the music and then resampling it.

What I'm now doing allows you to download the data rather than have to listen to it so you can download 60min streams in like 20mins and have it encoded in MP3 ready for putting on your portable MP3 player ;)

It's a series of plugins for WinAmp. Get them from the classic.winamp.com site.
