Got the call I was expecting from the job agency but they said that the employer didn't want me because it would be such a drop in salary (I was asking for £14k when I'm currently on £17.5k). He tried to explain that £3k of that is spent on travel and then there's London weighting but it seems his mind was made up and didn't want me cos he (the employer, not the agency) though I was worth more than that and wouldn't stay in the job for long.
This really was a kick in the nuts but at least the agency called to say why I was rejected. Maybe I should just put £14k as my current wage on my CV as that's what I get after travel and it'd be less likely to scare off prospective employers...

Alternatively, he should apply for jobs with a higher salary. (-8
