Life in the fast lane!
Mar. 30th, 2004 11:50 pmWhee! Today, the boss gave me a ride in his new silver Audi TT Roadster Quattro and wow! I was blown away :D I've never really had an interest in fast cars but this certainly changed my opinion... I want one! We sped around a few country roads and a short stretch of the motorway at breakneck speeds. After slowing down for a corner it was foot down and accelerate back up again! When the car accelerates you feel the g-forces pushing you back into the seat, something I've not experienced in a car before. The only experience I've had similar is in a rollercoaster! :) I really need to think about learning to drive!
The title of this post could also be used to describe my career. I've only been in the company for a month and they're already on about me moving into development (PHP/MySQL) on a more full time basis and get another support guy to do what I do now. Effectively, I'd be his boss! I've never been a boss before so I'm quite looking forward to it :D.

Date: 2004-03-30 04:24 pm (UTC)Never been one for rollercoasters before - but the best acceleration so far has to be the winch-launch in a glider. Trying to see if I can wrangle a 9G (okay, maybe I'm not that brave/stupid) spin in the centrifuge at work - though it's supposed to be horriby disorientating/nauseating when they slow it down to stop.
The job sounds great (unfortunately my work seems to look upon PHP/MySQL as four-letter words - anything without Microsoft in front and my technical manager gets antsy *sulk*)! Being boss/mentor to the new guy should be great experience which will stand you in good stead too.
(I really need to think about updating my CV *grin*)
