I suprised myself this time. Managed not to forget a thing to back up and everything went on and restored smoothly. All emails restores, mIRC restored, Trillian restored, My Documents restored. Yay me!

The first program I installed was Unreal Tournament 2003 - Is a little jerky with max detail in 1024x768 even with the new drivers. I guess my processor (1Gz) isn't good enough to keep up with my Geforce 4 Ti4200 :P I don't have the money to spend on my PC for a while so I'll be happy with this for now. Is a good game - I'll play more when I return home.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, I have the day off today! Woo! Two reasons, firstly, I have to wait for a telephone call from BG about the job they have on offer. They said they would call between 11 and 12. I have been hearing A LOT of bad things about BG and so I'm not sure I'd want the job so much now. I'm willing to give the phone interview and if that goes well, the real interview a chance but I'm slightly skeptical of it all. The second reason for taking the day off is to go to the job fair in Southampton today. I'll pop down to [livejournal.com profile] kashyfox's place after the telephone call and bring a few copies of my CV with me and see what I can acheive. I hope to at the minimum to sign up with some agencies.

Laters!

OK, I never got the phone call from BG that I was promised. I suppose I should have called them to see if they were gonna call em at all like they said but due to general a negative attitude from others towards the company, I never bothered. I may still call them again about it as there seems to be a number of positions going. [livejournal.com profile] kashyfox got the job there and starts on Monday but they are still advertising in the newspaper for the position.

Went into town with Kashy for the "Job Scene Roadshow" where I gave my CV to a few agencies and got info from others. Most didn't seem to offer IT positions as many said that "The bottom's fallen out of the IT job market". So much for hearing stories about people who just switch jobs in IT every few months cos they fancy a change... Guess that's a time of the past.

Afterwards, went about town with Kashy, played Counterstrike and Soldier of Fortune 2 at a computer shop that also has 30terminals for multiplayer gaming. I had never even heard of the place before yet Kashy's who's been back in the area for 6 days had come across it... :P Had a pizza sub from Subway and then got the train home. That's about it.

Feel like I could have possibly done more with my day but I guess I was just glad to have a random day off :). There's at least one job in today's job paper worth going for and a few leads from the job fair so I'm off to follow those up.

PS. Must remember to buy myself some AAA batteries for my mouse...

I really don't know why I didn't do it earlier but I set about completing my profile in Reed and applied for a number of jobs they had advertised there. I also applied for the aforementioned Tech Support job advertised in the paper today via Reed's AnyJob thingy. Next, I went to Deerfoot's site and sent my CV to them. They are an IT recruitment company based in my home town and I've never bothered to send my CV to them before? Crazy! I also applied for a membership at Manpower's ElanIT as instructed by the bloke at the Manpower stand in the job fair today.

It seems that I've finally caught the job search bug that I should have got months ago. I guess it was after being with Kashy and sharing his enthusiasm towards geting a job. I guess he kinda made me feel guilty for not trying harder...

I also have a number for Southampton City Council for an IT job they have going there. Will call them tomorrow.

*crosses fingers more tighter than ever that his latest efforts show some results*

Now to celebrate with a bit of UT2003 ;)
